I've already narrowed down my search to three cameras but I can't choose between them. Please tell me your opinions on these cameras:
-Sony Cybershot
-Canon Powershot SD1000
-Casio EXILIM 7.2 [Model: EX-S770]

I have a Casio and love it. My brother has a Canon and loves it. The Sony is very highly regarded and respected.

Which one do you like the best, because performance-wise you will be getting about the same quality from all 3 cameras.

Well, Kodak doesn't actually not make good cameras. They make cheap, easy to use cameras. That what Kodak has always done. Nothing wrong with that, just know that going in. Kodak makes great film, some of the best in the industry. But as for film or dig cameras, not so much.

Casio is not a traditional camera company, they are a gadget company so they are out.

The 'broken cameras for sell" section of eBay is littered with Sony Cybershots. Their zooms stop working. I am a big Sony fan, but a lot of their products (I have over $3000 in Sony equipment) will have some kind of fatal flaw.

Canon is a top notch company. Good cameras, good glass.

As a general rule, for any camera - choose between Canon, Nikon, and Olympus and Pentax. High end - low end.

If you stick to those 4, you won't go wrong.

I've got many friends who are big photo dorks and so I've seen most of these companies in action. I don't know about the specific models, but out of these three, I'd go with Canon. I took a Canon with me to Russia and loved it. It offered lots of options to fool around with, while at the same time providing simple point and shoot capabilities. Plus the guy at one electronics store, that was out of the Canon, offered to call a competitor to find me one. That speaks volumes to me.

Since you've been shopping already, sit down and make a list of what you want in a camera, then list them in order of importance. Memory stick or disc? Battery you charge or buy? How much zoom do you want? Then go to the store and talk to the salesman. He can help you better than this forum.
