i want to know the psychological understanding of this question. Why do people seek for love or why do they want to fall in love?

If you fall in a well you may get hurt thats why I think people fall in love. :-) Jus kidding.
I do have an answer and hope you would like it. Love & Marriage happens to maintain human eco cycle and keep human beings prevail by reproduction. That is a science point of view but when it comes to physcological view the reason is quite different.
When we are a kid, we have parents to take care of us in life. In teens, along with parents friends come in to share things which you can't be able to share with your parents. In adulthood, when we mature into an individual we have parents and friends yet they can't always hang around with you. Apart from that sex gets added to our basic needs. At this point, a partner from the opposite sex is needed to fill this empty space with all aspects that parents, friends, well-wisher, relative has. That is why husband/wife is know as the better half cause they fill you up almost becoming a part of you due to love and intimacy. For this love happens as a start due to hormones. We won't be aware of all these future benefits that love has hidden inside it which is nature's miracle.

If I tell you the reason why people fall in love psychologically, you will be alarmed. I have to answer this question because of my interesting psychology subject.When any boy or girl not in a position to get enough attention or love or affection from the members of their family, they go out and select somebody to pour their feelings and worries. There they meet similar person as their mate and start exchanging their love and affection,This is where they start their LOVE affair. Psych! I dont want to fall in love, it just happened! Let me say it is easy! I have fallen in love 3 times and ended up marrying the third one.
I guess I was always looking for companionship and it grew in to a affectionate relationship which made me pang and long and lust for her. Made me jealous and could not be without her (true all three times) I guess this feeling I got in my stomach (not stomach problem) is/was love

God's design that the two shall become one but sometimes we turn that gift of marriage and relationships into a god. It's healthy and good that the two become one in every area of life but if we only look to that to be our source of life then we've made it our drug. Some look to romance as a drug instead of what it was orginally meant to be.

don't know abt the physcological part but luv just happens w/o u knowig until u hav fallen in luv. people seek luv 2 find a partner who is emotionally nd sexually compatible wit them.

This is world....here no one can live without any feelings in heart ...when this feelings get stronger we give it the name of love...n this love could be for anyone for any relation but the perticular love for which u r asking is something which everyone want to do for someone spc...for whom one can give every everything which he/she hav including himself/herself.....wants someone on whom one can trust with lots of attachment.

people fall in love becz even they have every one around them but than also some where they r alone they r alone from inside from their heart. they want some one to whom they can take care and who take care of them and only them , who can live with him and for whom he can live .... every one need a partner for living and makeing this life more beautful .... that what nature is that ... ...

because there is someone out there that completes you, that is your "other half"...its just satisfying to find that one person that needs you just as much as you need them, that completely understands you, that knows you better than anybody else, that selflessly loves you and wants to spend the rest of their life with you...i havent found it quite yet, but im willing to wait, however long it takes
