I'm organizing a talk for college students, I need some ideas for some low-budget snacks that can be offered afterwards. Refreshments should require minimum effort to serve!

I highly recommend the party snacks at Costco! They are the highest quality for the lowest price and absolutely no prep. They have vegetable and fruit trays (uncover and serve), chips, crackers, cheese trays. That should do you.

How about a dessert reception? Everyone likes sweet stuff.
You can also get a sheet cake at Sam's or Costco that are good, get a fruit tray, even a cheese platter w/crackers for those who want something savory.

For drinks get or borrow one of those large (maybe 2 gallon) clear plastic jugs with a spigot and made lemonade from a mix and sliced up lemon to float on top. It was cheap and tasted good and on a hot day is refreshing. Make a big batch of coffee for those who want something hot.

I get all of my paper plates, cups, plasticwear at the dollar store. You can't get it any cheaper.

Have fun!

Just see if you can get one of those jugs that contains hot water. Then have cups and the things they need to make tea and coffee.
And then just have some biscuits or something or get someone to make little sandwiches.

Water, iced tea and coffee. These can be done ahead of time and put in large coolers. They can serve themselves. Have disposable cups.

Small cups, like the tiny dixie cups, of kool-aid or juice. Also, have some cookies or crackers.
