If you found out that god did not exist in the afterlife what would your thoughts be?
''nothing... if he is not there...i will not be there either...''
Purplewings, did you even READ the question? Apparently you WOULD be there. Do you know what hypothetical means?
''if that actually happened, i would be shocked first and foremost. then i would go to hell, because i certainly wouldn't bow down to that god (assuming you're talking about the abrahamic god)''
Why not??(assuming you're talking about the abrahamic god, and this is hypothetically)' apparently He was the only one there, he was the true GOD, why wouldn't you accept him? He gave you what you had, so you'd just be stuck up by not accepting him if you met him.
''If there is no God we will probably not be able to consiously feel an emotion. What would be keeping our souls aware in an afterlife were there no God? ''
If you found out that god did not exist in the afterlife ''what would your thoughts be?'' Well apparently that means you'd be able to THINK.
''and then i might just set off and continue my search for Him... ''
In this quetion, it says"If you found out that GOD DOESN'T EXIST." Why search for something that doesn't exist???

Well I believe in God and an afterlife...but if someone or something proved to me that it was not so I would probably initially be in shock...then I would feel sadness. However, there was a philosophy that I heard that makes a lot of sense that if you were to find that out and that nothing happens to you when you die except that you dissappear forever. It says why worry? You will be dead...and since you are you won't know that you are dead and you do not exist...everything ceases to be. You won't be there to worry so why care? I guess after a while I would grow to accept that...I would continue to try to be good since that is the right thing to do and how you act does affect the quality of life for others. People should just live as they did before they found out "God does not exist"...that way the world and everyone will be just as well off (maybe even better if people realize that they only have one shot). Well...people should do that but what is sad is that the likelihood of that happening is very small.

Fascination.
Thinking about what you're proposing gives me the same sense of wonder that I got from the end of "2001: A Space Odyssey", when Bowman came through the stargate and faced the utter unknown of the other side.
I would really like there to be an afterlife like that - a whole 'nother existence to explore. That'd be great.
I doubt that there is any such thing - there's no good reason to suspect that there is - but it'd sure be something.

I don't believe in God anyway, so it wouldn't come as too much of a surprise to me. Besides, even if God does exist, can we really expect that we're all going to meet him or her? The afterlife is going to be more packed than this one.

I associate these feelings with mortality. I believe my soul survives my body's demise...and when I pass on to the next stage of my existence, I will be greeted by some who have loved me and whom I have loved. For argument's sake, I don't believe I'd feel any of those things. My belief in a higher power is borne due to beliefs I have been raised on and my personal experiences, so I for one, can't transcend my belief to entertain the possibility of God not existing, let alone my reaction to such a possibility.

If the next stage has beer volcanoes and stripper factories, then I'm fine without the FSM itself.
Honestly, if the next round is without sorrow and pain, then it wouldn't really matter; but is the next is like this world or worse, then I'd consider acting like Agrajag.

I came into this world not knowing what to expect and was safe in the protection of my parents, I'm sure there will be someone to guide me in the next world, whether that be God or someone else.

If I exist after death to give this some thought---then I will know that death does not exist. Just because I have not met God in the process of all of this does not make him nonexistent. However, should that be the case, since this is your question--at that point, what difference would it make? Death could not bind us.

I would be proved correct that god does not exist. I would not be happy or sad about that fact just pleased that i did not waste my life believing in something that is not real.
