No reason to think they don't exist. But the likelihood that we'll ever find them is extremely remote. Think about the times and distances involved. We humans have only known about things like radio, which is probably how we would detect their existence, for about a hundred years or so. And the light from some of those stars we see has traveled for millions of years just to get here where we can see it. Radio travels at the speed of light so there could have been intelligent life that has been extinct for millions of years and their radio hit us millions of years ago or won't arrive for another few million years when we might be extinct. Timing is everything huh?

Given the number of stars in the universe and the apparent wealth of planets along with the fact that since we are here it's possible for life to exist, it seems almost impossible that there are no aliens.

I am absolutely sure there are many, many intelligent species out there. There is on the order of a septillion stars in the universe. It is almost impossible for there not to be billions of living planets.

They do not visit the Earth and administer anal probes to sleeping people. They do not fly craft across hundreds of light-years but accidentally smack into our planet. The chance of locating another intelligent species and communicating with them using current technology is almost nil.

To quote The Hitchhiker's guide, "Space is big."

I believe that they are real, somewhere out there. Somewhere in those billions of stars, at least one other planet has to have intelligent life (just by odds).

But I do not believe that they come down to earth, find a trailer park, pick up a husband and wife (him in flannel and her with curlers) and use anal probes on them.

Carl Sagan already showed mathmatically that there must be intelligent life somewhere other than earth. Whether or not that life has visited earth can't be proven.
