When an angel came to Elisha and told him to climb a certain mountain because God wanted to talk to him, Elisha went up the mountain and experienced a whirlwind, earthquake and volcano, but God was not in these things. Then, a still small voice, and Elisha met God.
Slow down, become quieter and still, watch and listen without words, but with a sense of seeing and knowing beyond the chatter of your mind. You will see things unfold for you the less and less you are involved with turbulent striving and thinking. Also, whatever moves you out of true motivation and love, these are the things that God directs you toward. It's a process of unfolding and becoming, not a place to park yourself necessarily, so be open and flexible to change. Try and see. You often discover it by seeing what doesn't seem right. Make it a journey of discovery.

When you accepted Christ as your Savior you gave up your life to the world and invited Jesus to teach and show you what He would have you to do for the kingdom of Heaven.
Have you told others of your salvation and what God has brought you from?
Have you given God the glory for the life you now have with peace in your heart with Him?
Do you look for where God is working around you and for opportunities to share your faith with others?
These are just a few questions you could ask yourself. But the only answer that will truly lead you to understand what God has for you is through prayer and seeing where He is leading you.
Don't give up. Each day is a building block in your life with Christ. Each trial you face builds you stronger in your faith and your walk with our LORD. Have patience and trust that Christ has something wonderful for you to do for Him. I pray the LORD our God will reveal His will to you today to see and know what His perfect will for your life is.
God bless!

There are a couple of ways. In the bible, it is clearly taught what we, as Christians (I don't mean to assume you are, I am just answering from this perspective) are to do every single day. We are to "live justly and love mercy". To be kind, compassionate, forgiving, merciful, humble. Whatever way in life you go, put into practice these things. It's also been my experience if you tell God your life is His, He will lead you where He wants you to go. He opens doors and shuts others. If you are ever uncertain, just bring your questions before Him in prayer.

God wants you to know Him and it is your purpose and what He meant for you to do with your life.
Knowing God is experiencing God. God will provide that through love for where love is, there God is also. Leo Tolstoy, the great Russian writer, wrote a short story called, "Where Love Is, There God Is Also" and in that story he shows us how to live. You can find it on the internet at:

It was a powerful influence in my life.

I have no idea that's up to you to discover.
All I can tell you is God is very general. He shows you things, leads you into thing and then watches to see what you do with your free will.
God doesn't provide detailed instruction books. God just provides SITUATIONS.
The rest is up to you.

I find that I know in my heart. If I'm waiting for guidance from Him, and an idea comes to me, if I'm at peace with it in my heart, I know it's from Him.

I imagine he wants you to stop being so gullible, to grow up, and start living in the real world and stop believing in fairy tales.

He will reveal it to you; you just have to be looking for it.
It will be unmistakable when you see it
