My sister and i arrived here in the U.s last april 1 2007, We are derivatives of our parents. Our parents have been staying here for about 13 years now. they applied for the asylee status and was granted last May 23, 2003. My parents has a private immigration attorney. we spoke to the attorney. but my sister and i couldnt ask much cuz of our parents are by our side and making scary faces. the attorney said we have to wait for 3 more years to recieve our green cards. she said we would recieve the green cards all together. We left our youger brother who is sick back at our country(philippines). we made a promise to hir that we wouldn't leave her until she was old enough. My father didnt want him to go here. so he didnt include my brother in the Derivative status that me and my sister recieved. cuz he was a child of another man. he is just 7 yrs. and left in the care of a friend. we are hearing bad things about how he is being treated. we love him so much. we'd like to go back to him.

my questions are.
1. The attorney told us that we would recieve our green cards all together. My parents Applied for change of status on May 23, 2003. and we submitted another form to include us in the change of status as well, it a form that'll revise the application of our parents to include us in the change of status to be come permanent residents.
Will I and my sister be really be getting our green cards by then along with our parents?

2. Would our application be filed as to this year? or is it still be May 23, 2003?

3. I read some thing about the immigration giving off more green cards in September 20, 2007. its says that due to the backlog of 10,000 asylees being given the green card they would give another 31,000 green cards to asylees so thats 41,000 all in all. Is My family included in this 31,000?

The attorney said to us that we would recieve our green cards after 3 years. So thats 2010. We are really concerned about our brother. I'd really appriceiate it if you are to answer my questions. please. I've tried searching over the net these are the only things that i've found that are relevant.(i think)

and as for our prents we often fight. even the simplest of things. we were closer before when we're far away. even though we have'nt seen each other for 12 years. We really dont mind being away from them. and i think our attorney is telling lies. thanks you for the ones that had replied. I really need answers to my questions.

What a problem...keep your chin up...get your authorization first, then go for supporting your brother. Do not give up that dream to have him here with you soon. Good Luck.

Get a second opinion from another immigration attorney. This story sounds fishy.

You need to call the caseworker at one of your US Senator's offices. They do not charge for helping you - it is FREE. They will give you real advice and assistance. This lawyer sounds like she is stringing you along, and it sounds like your father has a bias against your brother. Good luck!!
