The proper reading and study of The Bible is a lifetime work... and I got kind of a late start
While it is OK to read the Bible in it's intirety, it is not really intended that it be done "cover to cover/front to back". I have been of The True Christian Faith for just over 7 yrs and I have read maybe just over half. As I am 60 I hope I may get all the way through it before I leave this mortal world... But if I do not it will not matter. Because I will learn The Whole Truth when I get where I am going.
I read some in The Bible every Day... But the proper understanding of what is read can take a bit more time than the actual reading.... I read because it is a way to better understand what way God is trying to lead me.... and it is fun.

I have a one year bible and got 3/4 way through it. I'll be honest -- I got bored and quit. I am a Christian and shouldn't admit that but it is true. It is a 1 year bible and each day you read a chapter from the old, a chapter from the new, a psalm and proverb. It is a great way to read the bible as it is already planned out for you and you don't have to pick and choose. I plan on picking it back up and finishing the last 1/4. I found the old testament fascinating w/ the history and all. Modern day Iraq was once Babylon. They were fighting then and haven't stopped since. They don't play nice in the sandbox w/ others :)

Yes, I studied scripture for 5 years in total, for an initial period of 3 years and then, much later, for another 2 years - finishing a degree in theology.
I usually dislike having to do things over again but my second period of study was all but completely different to my first. I had matured, my lecturers were better, my fellow students dedicated - the whole environment was conducive to learning.
My present OT favourite parts are: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Wisdom; several prophets but currently Hosea and Amos.
I read the NT more: Gospels, especially John; all of Paul's writings.
No matter how many times I read it I still discover surprizes and gain some new insight - it is inspired and inspiring.
In joke: How do you infuriate a gathering of scripture scholars?
You announce that you are going to read from St. Paul's letter to the Hebrews!
Scripture scholars are more or less universely agreed that this text is not by Paul, not a letter, and not written to the Hebrews.

I'm a Christian, but no i haven't finished it. Though I'm working on it!
But to answer your questions:
1) I've read about the first five books, but have started reading in the New Testament. Also have read just various books/passages.
2) For inspiration, knowledge, gratitude (for Christ), understanding, and to learn to become a better person.
3) Psalms is probably my favorite book. Revelations is interesting as it is very cryptic
4) I've been trying to read a chapter a day, but sometimes i read more than one, and sometimes none at all.
5) All the reasons in #2, to be able to say that I've read it, and also, so Atheists/Non-Christians can't mock me when they ask me how i can put such complete faith into something I've never entirely read.

I have read through it!
I have also listened to it on tape.
I read perhaps about twice a week.
I like the books of wisdom/poetry
of the old testament and
the gospels of the new
testament best.
I hardly ever read all of the
tedious Hebrew laws, Numbers,
or II Kings - it only takes reading
those a few times to get the idea.
Many scriptures are so very powerful!
God often impresses upon my heart to
search a topic or read a certain chapter!

No I cannot say I have read the entire Bible. I have spent most of my time reading the words of Jesus and rest of the New Testament. Since I claim to be a Christian I think Jesus words take priority. Daily readings.

Yes, I do my own personal Bible reading daily. Also, I have a weekly Bible reading schedule that I follow along with all others who belong to the organization I'm associated with. I've read the Bible in its entirety many times.

Yes, several times.
The best book to skip is the Song of Solomon. There is no real value in that. Saying that it is an allegory of God's love for the people and for the Church is really stretching credibility.
Currently I am in the Book of Acts.

Yes I have many times and I continue to read and study it. The motivation is simply to gain a clearer understanding of God's character and mans position in His plan.
