my cat is a first time mother, she had her first kitten at about 11 pm last night, it is now about 1 pm the next day and she off and on acts like she is going into labor with the next kitten, even had liquid squirt out when she was licking back there, I know there is more she is huge and she is continuing to act like theyre coming but then there is nothing, the first kitten is healthy and my cat is eating and drinking and seems fine, but I keep reading that if it takes longer than 12 hours between kittens to bring them to a vet, which a) im 16 with only a permit and nobody else is home b) I cannot afford a vet
please help!!

update:

she had a kitten that was already out of its sack stuck in her birth canal, I helped her through it, pulled the baby out by one of its back legs and tail, a lot of discomfort for her im sure but the kitten is alive and well and so is she, about half an hour later she gave birth to a 3rd kitten properly I still think there are more to come and im helping her along, we'll see but shes on break for now and all 3 kittens are nursing =] im a very experienced animal person, but ive only ever dealt with birth in puppies and ponies and in this area many cats get pregnant and rarely does anybody use the vet

Why are you letting your cat have kittens if you can't afford a vet? Please call a family member or friend because your cat needs veterinary help- it already needed that over 12 hours ago. She doesn't have strong enough contractions, the remaining kittens in her belly might die or might have already, your girl will get exhausted and will be so restless that her one live kitten won't get enough chances to drink.
Don't care how you do it, get a vet in with her!

If you can't afford the vet you may not be able to afford the formula you will have to bottle feed to the only surviving kitten (the one that has been born) because the mother may be dead.
Are there any other people near you that can help- get your cat to a vet or that have been involved with animal birthing?
This forum can not help at this time.
