Regardless of the size of your rooms and the colors of your walls...when you keep your furniture simple in color and basic it always works better. Also due to the advent of stain resistant microfiber, you can get light colored furniture with no worries about stains. I would suggest a light color in browns, since if you ever get tired of your color scheme you won't be forced to shop for a new sofa. What you can do is maybe get a beige sofa, any style you like and then buy olive and maroon cushions as an accent piece.
Everything doesn't have to be perfectly color coordinated, that would make it boring. See if a jewel tone maroon accent cushion or a throw will appeal to you that may contrast with your beige sofa and a jewel tone olive cushion. The jewel or bright color of cushions brighten up a sober sofa nicely, without overwhelming the room with a lot of color in the sofa itself.
A dish on your neutral colored center table with potpourri that is also olive colored and maroon...table lamps that are white or cream colored with a maroon/olive pattern or a lamp shade that is white with maroon or olive embroidered.
The key again is to accent subtly so that it just looks open due to less color in furniture but the overall effect is just very harmonious. Compliment with an area rug in the center and continue the theme with cream or white curtains around the room with similar colors in embroidery or scarves that reflect the olive walls in small details.

I would choose a light brown color - tan, beige or creme. Darker or lighter brown accents such as a wooden end table, pillow, lamp shade, a vase, etc., would look nice. You might also try accent pieces in another shade of olive, I would probably try a lighter shade. Mixing textures is a good idea as a previous post suggested. Add a basket for magazines, a woven rug, a throw pillow made with silk/shiny fabric, or small, smooth stones in a clear vase. Maybe you can find a beige leather couch. Also consider mixing prints and solids. Page through home decorating magazines for more ideals. There are usually a few great ideas in every magazine and often aren't very expensive.

for olive walls, i could go with a solid color earth tone couch, something like a cream or tan. You can then accent the room with dark wood furnature (end/coffee tables/etc) and have your lamp shades and curtains match your sofa. With olive and a lot of greens, you can't get too zealous with your color skeem. Keep in simple and include only a few extra colors. No plaids or stripes.

I would go with a Beige or Brown. Find a texured Brown Or maybe a Nice Brown Leather. Make sure you lay on it before buying it. My parents bought a sofa just by sitting on it and when they got it home they hated it because The back cushions were too poofy and you couldn't lay down to watch a movie without feeling like you were going to fall off. Good Luck.

As a person who grew up in the late sixties/early seventies, I cannot believe those colors are coming back.
Anyway - with Olive Green, they used to use a Burnt Orange or Pumkin Orange or Rusty Orange to go with the Olive Green.
Personally, since I'm familiar with those color combinations - I'd pass.

Keep your furnishings in neutral colors, this way when you want to change your wall color you dont need to change the furniture also. Stick with beige, black or soft tan colors for the furniture and you cant go wrong, just remember every interior decorator has a different vision for your space and no one is right or wrong. Think of what you like the best and screw anyone elses opinion.

Look through magazines--either home or out door, any really, and find the color of "olive" you have chosen. Then look at the other colors in the photo that compliment or add that punch of color. We chose our furniture showroom colors around a photograph of a wiemaraner dog.

olive would be hard to match. khaki-type colors is the only thing I can think of for a sofa. orange is a good accent color for olive, but I think it would be a bit much for a sofa.

Olive looks beautiful with a cream or beige. If your wallas are plain, you may want to look into a textured (Same color with intricat sown designs) or designed material (flowered or something like that) for your couch.
