They have to be at least 8 weeks to be adopted out. Some even require 12 weeks or more.

You were right with the number, but it is weeks, not months.
8-12 weeks is the best time to buy a puppy. Some breeders recommend waiting until 12 weeks for more social training from mom, but puppies are ususally good to go at 8 weeks.

puppies can leave their mom at 8 weeks. any time after 8 weeks is fine also. so no u dont have to wait 8 to 10 months to get ur puppy if ur getting one u only have to wait until it is 8 weeks. sometimes it depends on what the breeder is comfortable with. if they feel that they should keep it longer than they will.

the best time to buy a puppie, and it shuld be illegal to buy after, is 7 to 8 weeks. at that age they still dont know their parents and when moved to another permanent residence, will grow up to belive the new owners are the real owners. after 8 weeks, the puppy realises its parents and if moved, will be confused and perhaps run away. at the same time, if you buy them earlier, you are depriving them of the mothers milk which is critical in their healthy growth. hope this helps you

A good breeder will keep puppies for 8 weeks. That gives them the two series of shots they need to protect them in their new enviroment.1st shots at 6 weeks should be a 7 in 1,and a booster 7 in one at 8 weeks. This gives the parvo and distemper protection puppies need.....George

7.5-8 weeks, I read it in a book when I got a puppy a few days ago, the training really is more affective at this age

8-10 weeks (not months) is what most vets will tell you. It gives the pups time to get weaned off of their mothers and gets them socialized within the litter. 8-10 months seems a bit long to me.
