I have a pug mix, and let me tell you, he the sweetest thing ever, may be a little psycho at times, but for the most part, he is a great dog. Considering mine is a mix, it is a little different (as far as health problems) because he has a longer snout(English bulldog/pug mix.) I know eng. bulldogs don't have that long of snout, but its longer than a pugs! Great companions, and pets.

BTW---eyes falling out? Give me a break.

My fiance and I have a pug and we could not be happier. Some answerers have stated that they slobber, have eye and nose problems, or shed a lot. This really all depends on the owner. The owner must do plenty of research first of all. Once the pug is in their hands, you must give the pooch regular exercise, bathing, brushing, etc. They are considered a "low maintanance breed" but that little maintanance needed is necessary. Our little guy is just the best. He is very calm, sweet, loving...loves everyone, especially kids. He goes with the flow of everything. We keep him very active so he does not become overweight (which is VERY easy to do with a pug). They are wonderful dogs!!!

Oh, most definitely. Just make sure you stay on them with the potty training. They make wonderful companions and are sweet natured. Please beware though, you should buy from a VERY reputable breeder because they can have many potential healthy problems. Do your research on them.

My last pug, Frank, had to be put down because we discovered after an MRI and spinal tap that he had hydro-encephilitus (water on the brain) and meningitus. He was also blind in one eye from birth, and completely blind in both eyes after having numerous seizures. He was 2 years old. He was my first pug and not bought from a breeder, they sold puppies from the newspaper and were really trashy people. They also let me have him way too early (5 weeks), when they really should have let him nurse between 8-12. Pay the extra $$ for a healthy dog, it will be worth it in the end.

well i see it this way. if the dog is loyal and loving breed doesnt really matter. TO ME. but some people wouldnt choose a pug because the dog may be smaller than they like or they r allergic to them. pugs shed a lot so it really depends on what group of people r getting the dog.

Eyes falling out?? (first post)) Never heard of that. Anyways...my grandmother has had two pugs and she loves them. They are extremely loyal and lovable. They do however have sinus problems, from their flat faces. Both of her dogs had to go through surgery so that they could breath!

yes, but they can overheat, choke, have skin and eye problems, they shed constantly, but little hairs, snore. If raised right (socialized) they are friendly sweet little dogs.
All dogs have their perks and such, so just make sure you know what you are getting into. This is not a dog for walker/joggers, it is a couch potato, fetch once in a while companion dog. Usually good with kids and other dogs.

Any dog makes a good pet if it fits in with its owners lifestyle.
