Doesn't necessarily mean its serious. Friend of mine had that happen and it turned out to be hemmeroids. You should see a doctor just in case though.

Blood laced feces is a early sign of cancer and needs to be checked out by a doctor right away! It could also be a sign of mercury poisoning as well.
Its good you were not hesitant to tell about it. Anything that involves possible health problems should be told without the fear of being immodest or disgusting or any other social consequence.

Gross, not grose. Anyway, it is likely either you were constipated, if not, then it could be something in your digestive tract like an ulcer in your stomach or something in your intestines. You should see a doctor asap about this, it could be something serious.

If it was rather larger or harder then usual that could be it (constipation) which can be fixed by eating whole wheat and drinking lots of water.
If it was a large amount of blood see a doctor!
