Some people in the article even admit skepticism with this theory. What it does show is their old fossil records are seriously flawed. Now they have to create a new theory to account for the flaws. Something they covered up in the past. Yet another nail in the coffin of evolution. Evolution's theory is constantly changing because too much evidence contradicts it. I really get a kick out of the people answering this question who talk about the rigidity of Christians not being able to change. If you think about that, it just goes to show ignorance. Our old time religion blows new time science out of the water when it comes to consistency. It just goes to show that truth will always trump the lie.

Wonderful! That's what science is all about! Discovering new things, exploring old theories, retesting them, finding mistakes, fixing them. It's great! Just the way it should be! Just the way it has been for many decades now!
Darwinists must hate it. (Definition: "Darwinist" = person who has only partial understanding of evolution and scientific theory and uses same to bash religion in a misguided conception of the purpose of religion or the established nature of a theory).
Those who love the idea of evolution must be very curious.
So should all religious people. They hesitate, naturally, to accept evolution because until we can time travel, or have lived a lot longer, there are still other potential explanations of the diversity of life relative to their belief systems.
Scientists understand that and have watched religion adapt to many scientific theories, easier and easier as science has established itself and a method, not a rival religion.
Darwinists don't quite get that. Scientific method is not as important to them, so they see new challenges to the theory as threats, rather than something to enjoy and explore.
Great stuff being discovered. Encourage science. Discourage misuse or misunderstanding of science.

It makes me question the competence of Seth Borensein, science guy at AP.
I have been seeing evolution presented as a cladistic tree as far back as I can remember.
I would love to know the context in which the quotes he used were first presented. It sounds like the reasearchers are talking about how evolution is presented in popular culture and introductory science texts.
It only takes a moment to realize that unless different variations exist there is nothing for selection to work on. That would make evolution by selection unworkable
Thanks for the drink.

Everybody keeps acting like they are disproving evolution. The idea of evolution is not being challenged, just certain steps from pre-historic man. One species that they thought came from the other, and actually both may have been around at the same time. You want proof of evolution, look at the NFL. How many 6'7" 360lb lineman that run a 4.7 forty were there 30 years ago. Now thats average for a lineman. Thats evolution

LOL, I read that article too. It seemed to me to indicate that females evolved more homo-sapiens' qualities before males did. LOL Go girl evolution power! Wooo Hooooo!!
It doesn't change the way I see evolution in the slightest. I know that through the process of evolution there are many different mutations that exist simultaneously. No problemo, Heysoos.

You only make yourself look foolish.
It was not changed. The only thing that happened was they found until now an unknown split.
If you would bother yourself with reading a report you would know it only enforces the theory. There is noting in the theory that states there was no splitting prior to or after Lucy.
Please gain a little knowledge before speaking on a subject you clearly have no knowledge of.

EVOLUTION is like an immense jigsaw but the pieces are not in a convenient box.
It takes time to find all the pieces and fit them together.
Sometimes the pieces are incorrectly placed and have to be repositioned.
Some pieces may be forever lost but as each piece is correctly placed the picture emerges.

Man is like a fish in shallow water - just splashing and flaunting along until God rescues him. Like a good Father, God will say, you would not have needed rescuing if you'd only obeyed and stayed in the deep water. We refuse to believe the Word of God and we keep splashing along, one clue after another, until we come to the realization of God. God tries to make life easy for us and we scream out - I'll do it my way. I like living in sin with my fifth girlfriend. I like my porno; my drugs; my alcohol; my lies and my way, etc. I like cheating people so I tell them they can talk to their long dead grandfather or I can make them rich if they'll listen to me. I like living in what God calls sin and doing whatever I want. As long as there is a Bible the theory of evolution will be challenged. I believe every word written in the Holy Bible.

It's been constantly changing since it's inception. This has been one of the theories by some evolutionists for years. Like everything in science, we will continue to learn more as we discover additional evidence like this.

As wingman says, absolutely wonderful...gets people drinking... uh... thinking about how it all really started.
The Wright Brothers didn't get it perfect the first time out, either. But they changed and now we get to stand in line at airports and be frisked. :-)
