I want to lose 30lbs but I don't want to go on a diet....it's hard for me to diet since I have a husband and 2 kids to cook for everyday. So being on a diet is hard for me. Is there any way for me to lose the weight without dieting? I drink diet soda and green tea. And I only consume about 1500-2000 calories a day. But my excercise is very low. I just need some encouragment. Please help!!!! Thanks!!!

Well, cut out the pop, diet pop can be worse than regular pop for you. Dark pop is reallly bad for you. Green tea will help you lose weight but you can't just souly depend on that.
While cooking for your family, If you are sauting something, instead of using butter use extra virgin olive oil, its alot healthier for you and your family both. If your family is not wanting or needing to lose weight then just portion your meal etc.
Exercise is key. You can not lose weight, at least in a healthy way with out exercising. If you live in a small town, instead of taking your car and running errands just walk, take the kids with you and the dog if you have one. Instead of just watching the kids play at the park..play with them...you are being active to help you lose wieght and being active with your children, which will make you and them both happier!! If the kids take a nap then pop in a 20 min work out dvd, yoga dvd, or pilates, or go for a jog, working out triggers endorphins, and once you are done working out you will feel alot better about yourself and your appearance and just be alot happier in general.
The healthiest way to lose the weight will talk awhile, you will notice a change but not like BAM you lost weight, take it slow. It's safe and healthy.
Good Luck!

Try to cook healthier meals... there are lots of ideas out there. Just some minor substitutions can go a long way.

Try making your meals smaller, and adding some snacks... so that you're eating 5-6 small meals a day.

If your diet is lacking... then you have to kick up your workouts to compensate if you want to lose weight. If you belong to a gym, go to the classes that last for a full hour, and mix it up... don't do the same class all the time. 60 minutes a day for 5 days a week should help you lose weight.

Also lift weights or do a barbell class 3 days per week.

It can be done... if you can figure out a way to keep your eating healthy and burn a lot of calories, you should lose weight. It might take longer if you aren't being restrictive with your diet though.

A combination of a healthy diet and exercise is still the best way to go. But 1 or the other is better than neither!

Make sure you are in a calorie deficit - (goal weight x 12) and then don't go over that calorie wise.

Just getting out and walking 30 minutes a day (even if it's just in short 10 minute spurts) should also help you with the weight loss. Weight training is also good for you as it helps to boost metabolism and you'll burn calories faster.

I would also suggest taking out the diet soda (some people cannot tolerate aspartame nor splenda-so this is just a suggestion). And make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Drink 1/2 your body weight in oz. If you weigh 150 lbs, make sure you are drinking 75 oz of water.

Good luck to you!

To a very high degree, you should weigh as much as you feel happy with weighing.

As far as a "healthy weight", that's what most of the other posts are about (calculating your BMI, diet plans, etc).... but most people will say what the "average" is according to different opinions.

As long as you are at a weight where you are healthy, the most important part is that you are HAPPY with your weight... not that you "should be X pounds", but that no matter what you weigh, you are happy with that instead of striving to be a size 2 or something like that

That being said, if you want to lose weight, exercise is a really good (and safe) way to lose weight. In addition to that, I would recommend meeting with a nutritionist or dietitian to see if there is something else that may benefit you more

I would suggest that you don't "diet", but just examine what you and your family are and aren't eating. I read in a recent "Good Housekeeping" that moms gain x amount of pounds per year (I don't recall the exact number) just by eating off of their kids' plates, eating cookies and candy that was bought for their kids, etc. What I got from that little blurb was this-- If the moms are gaining weight from that junk, why are they even feeding it to the kids? Read the ingredients of foods that claim to be healthy. I avoid anything with partially hydrogenated oils, hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup and color dyes, artificial colors and flavors, and anything else that looks as though it comes from a chemistry lab. Watching food commercials make me laugh.
Quaker granola bars (and their other snacks including the instant oatmeal) contain some of the aforementioned junk. Yet, they claim to be healthy. I buy granola bars from Trader Joe's a health food store with cheap prices. I buy all natural granola bars (vanilla almond and chocolate chip) sweetened with sugar cane, oil free, junk free, etc. for only $2 a box, which is even cheaper than the (unhealthy) store brands at the other stores. The same withe cereals. I eat a lot of Cheerios or the equivelant because they're healthier. They're one of the few cereals that don't contain partially or fully hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, HFCS, etc. Even the "healthy" cereals marked to adults have that junk. Go figure.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

what I did - have someone take a picture of you in a bathing suit (I know - ewww) the bulges grossed me out to the point of everytime I looked at it - I would make myself do some kind of exercising - whether it be marching in place for 5 minutes while watching dinner cook on the stove or arm lifting reps with the laundry detergent bottle while waiting for the rinse cycle....
its all exercise - dieting usually never works - just eat smaller portions - drink water before eating - your stomach will be fuller and you can only cram in so much food after that

Diet is never good and products are worst.
I recommend you Weight watchers, you don't have to change your menu, you can eat same that you cook for your family unless you only cook fried food and that, if you stop doing it will be better for you as much as for your family. I feel same way when I star I didn't want to put my family through diet just because of me, instead, in WW I have learn to cook more healthy food for my family and right serving size of it for me.

Start off by not drinking soda, diet or regular, drink plenty of water instead, if you like iced tea, make it yourself at home instead of bottled, because the bottled contain hidden sugars, like high frucose corn syrup which is not too good for you.

instead of drinking fruit juices, eat the fruit instead
Go for long walks with your husband and kids.
instead of sugary breakfast cereals have a bowl of cheerios or oatmeal.

instead of sugary snacks, have cut celery, carrots, you can dip them in hummus, or if you must have something sweet, keep a bag ful of hersheys kisses in your freezer, and have like 4 of them.

or on a cut piece of celery, fill it with Peanut Butter and dot with raisins.

or dip apple slices in a a tablespoon of peanut butter.

But most importantly, go for walks or exersise. That is the most important thing you can do.

you need exersze. even going for a 30 min walk is god enough. as long as you do it every day
