Only if you want to be ridiculed, trampled, and taken advantage of. New Yorkers have no patience for anyone who even appears to be from out of town.

You always want to try and fit in with your surroundings when you're traveling. Don't act like a redneck because you won't fit in. People will ridicule you especially in the city. I act like a redneck sometimes just to be funny.

Are you doing it to act like a redneck or are you in fact a redneck. Being from Texas and now living in LA it can be hard to be yourself. But it's all I want to be. So if my country redneck self is watching Nascar and drinking before noon, I can't help it, it's who I am.

It's comparable to acting like a cultured New Yorker in Texas.

Depends where you are. In Times Square it's expected and somewhat accepted that uncultured tourists are everywhere. There are no real New Yorkers in those parts anyway.
Just don't tread on our 'real' attractions, restaurants and hang outs. That's when you will be ridiculed and shamed into leaving immediately.
