I want to get a tattoo on my hip. It would be the outline of a star with a little filled in star in the middle, then two small filled in stars next to it.
The colors I was thinking of were bright green, pink, bright blue, and orange. Each star a different color.

All colors fade at about the same pace. If you want to make sure those colors stay in nice and strong for years to come I would recommend keeping it out of the sun as much as possible. If you know your going to be out in the sun for long periods of time use sunscreen.

Also, what I do with my tattoos is I use Tattoo Goo, Tat Wax, or H2Ocean once a month to ensure the color staying strong. You can get any of these lotons from your tattoo shop. Keep in mind that if you are illergic to peanuts do not use Tat Wax, one of the active ingrediants in it is peanut oil. I have had one customer accually have an illergic reaction to that stuff.

The colors sound good for the stars..and having a black outline would look nice. It'll keep the design nice and simple. I'm guessing that's what you are going for.

A tattoo is made by puncturing the skin and inserting various colors to make the design. So if the colors fade it is because:
1) the colors were not put in properly into the skin (noticeable in 1-2 months time)
2) the customer does not heal the tattoo properly. Pay attention to what the artist advises you on the healing (noticeable in 1-2 months time)
3) too much wear and tear on the skin (the sun is your tattoos worst enemy) - noticeable after many many months
It does not matter what colors you choose, take care of the skin and your tattoo will look nice for years to come
Do the outline in the blackest black, it will look better in the long run

Just know that if you tan eventually colors will fade..I stress eventually! My oldest color tattoo is 8 years old, and yes there is some fading but I like color tats the best! Personally I'd outline it in black! Good luck!

sounds cute, i have a hip tattoo, didn't hurt a bit! I'd outline it in black for sure, it'll make it pop and look way better. As for fading, I think yellows, whites, and some oranges fade easier than other colors.

A tat always looks better when outlined in black

and reds and oranges fade easily, same with yellows.
Blues and greens fade less, but they all fade in time.

Just take care of that patch of skin properly, and black outlines are always cute.
