i think its a airbag thing...it blinks when i start up the car and stays lit.. it shows a person sitting down in a car seat with a round ball in front of him. the book says that its the airbag, does this mean that i'm going to have to change the airbag? those things cost alot right?

To have the problem diagnosed properly requires bringing it to a Ford/Lincoln dealer where the servicing tech can connect IDS to it and retrieve the RCM (Restraint Control Module) code in order to determine the problem. On Lincoln LSs in particular, it's usually been a corroded electrical connection under the front seats to the seat belt pretensioner(s) that causes the air bag warning indicator to flash as you've described. Hope this helps.

Lincoln Ls Airbag Light

Yep, that's the airbag light. It should come on when you're starting the car, then shut off again once it starts.

Sometimes the manufacturer will build in a timed alert to those things because they're supposed to be serviced at regular intervals. The airbag might be fine and they might just need to check it and reset the computer.

No, it means there is probably a bad sensor and your airbags are not operative and will not protect you in the case of an accident. Take it to the Ford/Mercury/Lincoln repair center and have them evaluate and fix it for you.

It might just be the airbag sensor, unless an airbag actually deploys you probably won't need to change it, but get it checked because a faulty sensor could cause the airbag to inflate even if you aren't in an accident or it might not inflate when you do get into one.

has it done it since you got the car? - then if so the person who owned it before you might have wrecked it and never had the airbag replaced.

if it just started doing this i would say it is something electrical, as far as i know an airbag just doesnt go bad or stop working.

You need to get to a dealership before the airbags go off as you drive along. Will it happen? Probably not. Could it? Yes. Would it suck if it happened? Most definitely.

Check with your dealer. Different cars use such lights for different purposes.
