I'm a Christian and I am tried or Wiccans getting treated as if their religion is fake or not good enough. I am also tired of Christians putting down other religions in general. I thought we should love and treat eachother with respect, what happened here?

CJ: I'm not a Christian not matter what I say...LOL! & I'm a liar! That is so so funny!

Last I checked I believed Jesus was my Lord and Savior. I guess...that is just a technicality...

I used to be Wiccan before I converted...A lot of people think that it is following Satan, because they think of witches and casting spells, and associate that with evil. But it's actually quite peaceful and respectful of the earth. People have and always will judge and condemn things and people which they do not understand. Unfortunately.

To the people who complain about Christianity borrowing things--whine, whine, whine. Neopagan religions aren't original. Wicca, for example, isn't an ancient religion. Garnder created it out of 19th century romantic poetry, Margaret Murray's shoddy research, a bunch of Golden Dawn and Masonic material, and a dash of Aleister Crowley. And you know what? Cultures borrow from earlier cultures all the time. Do a study of Roman paganism sometimes--they took from every culture they conquered.

As to Wicca being persecuted, I think that's an exaggeration. Right now it's a lot more dangerous to be a Muslim than a pagan. And if you want to talk persecuted groups, at least pagans aren't barred from getting marriage the way gays are.

Far as what I've seen here, a lot of the pagans on Yahoo answers are just as bad about being closed minded and silly as the Christians.

Wicca is associated with witchcraft (rightly or wrongly). As such, Christians see witchcraft as satanic.

I have nothing against any god, its the followers that I tend to hate.....for their thinly vieled and not so thinly vieled bigotry.

What some christians fail to see is that witchcraft is just a tool....to be used for good or evil depending on the user.

You would not hate planes just because a**holes used them to blow up two buidlings and thousands of people, do you? But I'm more or less an atheist, so I don't really believe any of it anyway. Sometimes it would be nice to have magic, but its just a wish. lol

But have you noticed something? The people who believe in religion the most, almost have to believe in magic and sorcery as a requisite. Why? Because all miracles are is magic from your god.

And there inlies the basis for why the bible says magic is from satan, but miracles are from god. Christianity is distancing itself from the same people as itself.

If a right winger can tell me this please, what is different from jesus healing a blind man by touching him and a "witch" healing a person of a sickness through witchcraft? Both heal the person about the same way, yet they claim one way is evil? Yeah, i see how it is. But then, you aren't supposed to think about it that deeply.

I am also Christian. My take on this is that we only try to save the others. Since our main goal on earth is to serve the Lord, by spreading the word of God, then we try to discourage the other religions. BUT, I think that some Christians take it TOO far than they really should by insulting the other beliefs. It's not as if insulting them will bring them to Christ. In fact, I think that just pushes them away. That just shows that these people should be taken off the evangelism committee. We don't mean to demean other religions, but some of us do, which is wrong. I think we do try to respect the other religions, but it just never works out for some. Hope I helped!

Yeah, the whole "do not suffer a witch to live" is a big reason.

But another big reason is that Christianity is a (bad) copy of old pagan religions and they would rather paganism be completely wiped out beause they want Christianity to appear as an original "true" religion when that is very far from the truth.

Most people when they don't understand a religion or are scared of something different the first thing they do is attack them. Personally, I would never put down another religion, it's not very Christ like at all. Just because I don't agree with what a Wiccan believe doesn't give me the right to destroy what they believe or tell them it isn't good enough.
One might say study and understand a religion before you decide to bash that religion or it's believers.

Because the current versions of the NT in the US teaches that witchcraft comes from the devil directly and many Wiccans practice a form of witchcraft. According to those teachings, Wiccans are agents of the devil. Of course it isn't true, but rather than find the truth for themselves, most Christians will go with what they are told to go with.

i'll respond to in line with my adventure... i do no longer shove my faith, yet like now while questions are asked, I answer. it somewhat is perceived as shoving, while infact it somewhat is an invite. human beings hit upon my undertaking for them and placed across their problems to me ( i'm no longer speaking of yahoo, yet real time ) and somewhat would desire to renowned till now all of my countless understanding :) , comes from my own very own adventure with the Lord and His observe. specifically situations it is somewhat taken and the common of existence improves for that guy or woman. And different circumstances that is not any longer taken properly, and however the very comparable guy or woman will carry their problems to me as quickly as returned, and assume a distinctive answer. i don't have one. I even have concept approximately this alot, and would turn this question around, many of the faiths you reported do no longer take some time to coach undertaking for yet somebody else, WHY is that??? Do they no longer have something in the way of fee and faith to furnish? Do they care approximately you in any respect, or is there purely undertaking praying on a rug 5 circumstances an afternoon or praying to a field crammed with statues that would no longer hear them. See, i'd question that extra effective than a practice of undertaking. human beings specifically situations get carried away with regard to the possibility of winning a soul to the Lord, and it somewhat is a turn off, yet atleast i comprehend that they care.

They are insecure. The pagan religions are old and history confirms that many parts of Christianity come from paganism. Many Christians can't accept this and try to discredit it every chance they get. Also, many pagans are content to let others follow which ever religion they choose, a concept which seems to be foreign to Christians.
