I'm trying to bake a hacksaw blade into a cake for my friend. The problem is that the blade keeps settling to the bottom of the pan. How do I prepare this dessert so that the blade is in the middle?

Do a double layer cake and just put the saw in the middle when the cakes are done, then add your frosting. This way the cake will still be edible if the saw is clean. This is really weird of you to do, please explain because I am curious :) GOOD LUCK!

LOL!!!!!

Why don't you try dredging the hacksaw blade in flour? If it keeps chocolate chips from settling to the bottom in cake batter why not hacksaw blades!

:)

perhaps you can drop it in after five or so minutes. perhaps you should reserve some batter to cover it up again at that point. or perhaps you can place either bits of already-made cake under the blade, or maybe just some frozen batter underneath it. these suggestion are geared to allowing the bottom to firm up a bit. also, you might try preheating the baking pan. let me know how it works, i've got a similar concern.

Make a 2 layered cake. Wrap the hacksaw in saran wrap or a zip lock. Place on top of the bottom layer and frost over it. Then place second (top) layer over it and finish frosting.

I was trying to think of a way you can support it in the cake batter, but I can't now, so I think your best bet is to do what the one answerer said, put it in between to already baked cakes.

well i would use some lids from pop bottles-the plastik kind, then place the blades on the caps and pour the batter over them very carefully, you can just feel them to make sure they are in place while you put the pan in the oven but since this is kinda illegal the guards usually check the cake before they give it to the inmate
