You may well find that having control of the car in your own hands actually makes you feel more secure than being a passenger and at someone else's mercy. Make sure whomever is instructing you understands your apprehension.
Have them start you off in an empty parking lot. With no other cars or obstructions around, go and stop until you get the feel for the brakes. Then steer hard left and hard right while moving slowly. Get the feel for how the car turns. Once you can consistently start and stop without jerking and turn without over steering or under steering, start driving on quiet roads.
Progress a little at a time always being vigilant for other cars and obstructions. You will be fine. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you turn out to be one of the best drivers in your school. You already know what can go wrong. Most young drivers feel invincible until after they have their first accident or license suspension for bad driving.
I am sorry you were hurt. I hope you are back to top condition. I wish you the best of luck and nothing but happiness from now on!

You can't stop dum drivers from driving out there in the world. I got into two accidents and it was there fault, I know I can drive because I look in all directions always make sure I can be safe. If you are careful but get hit again its not your fault some people just don't know how to be careful and they end up hitting the good driver. Just relax and drive you will over come your feeling by checking the roads more.

Unfortunitely, the only way to overcome your fear is to face it...you need to get behind the wheel again. I would recommend starting slowly; I mean driving locally, near your home in familiar suroundings, with someone you trust at your side, preferably a parent or other adult who will not be critical or make you nervous. If you're unsure of driving in traffic, start on a mall or school parking lot, when empty. You can do it! Good luck.

If you can, you might try practicing in remote areas with very little traffic. When you get comfortable there you should slowly move to more and more populated streets.
It's kind of like any phobia. Just take it a little bit at a time and you will eventually lose your fear and gain confidence.
Good luck.

Get over your fear before you start driving or you will be timid and get yourself or somebody else killed. Maybe you aren't mature enough to drive just yet.
