If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.

If you know where the nest is, you can try to put it back on the nest or make a nest out of a cradboard box and put it high up on the tree. Then check if the parents come to take care of him there. If not, put him in a cardboard box with holes (not a cage), put newspaper at the bottom that you can change, drop some water on his nostrils (they communicate with the mouth, but you don't want to block them , so don't drop anything other than water on them). Then feed him every 2-3 hours. Soak baby cat food and mash it up. Then put it in a syringe and feed the bird by putting the food deep in his mouth. Not simply in his beek, it must go deeper, just don't choke it. You must release it only when it is a fully grown bird, eats by itself (seeds or worms, but not those sold as baite, they are poisoned), and can fly perfectly, not just fly around a bit. You can cover the box with a metal mesh, like a fridge shelf.

No need to worry . This happened before where I live . Well you should get it bird seed if you have any so it can nibble on something . Keep a eye on it to . Then call a vet hospital and ask them what to do with it they might give you a place to take the bird like to a person that is allowed to take care of wild animals . So try that . I'm a big animal lover too ! Good luck !

It's really simple, if you know where the nest is, just put him back! There is no reason you can't. The myth about the mother bird not going back b/c of human scent is just that, a myth. If however, you can't find the nest, place the baby in a secure box or small animal container and call your local wildlife rehab or animal shelter who can at least put you in touch with someone who can take the bird.

The parent birds should watch it, as they are very protective of their babies. Just try to keep the cats away from it. I wouldn't reccomend touching it or moving it, because the human scent will make the parent birds leave. Then the little guy will be doomed for sure. He may be just learning to fly, so just keep an eye on him. And sadly, sometimes you just have to let nature take it's course, everything happens for a reason...

Sadly, tehre is nothing you can or should do. It is natural that young birds fall out of the nest before they can fully fly. The parent birds are not very far away. They watch over the young and will feed it and try to protect it. I am almost certain that by the end of the day it will be able to fly short distances and reach safety.

You should take to a pet shop is the only thing I can say but the mom wont come back because of the human scent on the baby so the only thing I can suggest is to take it to a nearby pet shop or you have to like make a nest and put it back into the tree or you just might have to take it and put it in a large field maybe away from other animals

find the nest. put heavy duty gloves on, carefully pick up the bird and put it back. im a crazy animal lover and this is what i did at my neighbors. the mom may or may not come back but if ur careful it won't be ur fault! the mom will not be able to pick it up and put it in the nest. so u should help her. just wear heavy duty gloves so the human scent won't get on it.

Call your State Department of Natural Resources ( Fish and Game). and ask them where to find the local Wildlife Rehabilitater. These people are trained and licensed by the state to care for wild animals and birds in distress.
It is actually ILLEGAL for you to take the bird in, even to save its life.
Good luck. I hope the little bird makes it !!

Pet stores won't take birds. They'll tell you straight off that outside birds can carry diseases that will infect their birds, and hurt their profits.
But, you can try calling your local humane society to see if there is an animal rehab near you.
