I have a hard time feeling bad, this death was 100% preventable if the cat was an indoor cat it would never have died like that. it would still be alive, happy, and healthy.
your grandma's cat is smart not to want to go outside. it's not safe for pets to be out there unattended.

That's very very sad. Your cat probably did get hit by a car and had internal bleeding. As he was found lying on the street he probably died instantly. I hope so because he wouldn't have known anything about it and wouldn't have suffered. But it's horrible for you though isn't it. I know what it's like because one of my cats got run over by a car and died when she was 9 years old. I felt terrible. Her sister wandered around the house crying so we decided to get another cat - a kitten - which we thought she would like as a companion. It didn't work. She absolutely HATED the kitten. It didn't make up for her missing sister and although - ten years later - she had learned to get on with him, she still didn't like him at all and it wasn't his fault - he grew up to be a nice cat. Looking back, we should have let her stay on her own and get over the loss of her sister in her own way. Maybe you could get an older cat from a cat shelter. They may have one which has lost its owner and is looking for a good home. If it was older, it might be more streetwise and less likely to wander near the traffic.

Unfortunately, he was probably hit by a car, I had my precious kitty killed this way, and it just looked like she went to sleep in the road. I thought it would have been much more --to put it bluntly--messy-- but it wasn't. I cried for a week...I loved that cat! So I know exactly how you feel because I've been there.
There is no replacement for your cat. Even if you got one that looked exactly like your old one it just wouldn't be the same. The new cat might act totally different than the old one and make things even harder for you. If you want to get a new cat that's fine, just don't try to 'replace' him. When one door is closed another opens.

I am so sorry about your loss of your cat.I hate animal cruelty too.It sounds like he could have been licking up something poisonious because blood coming out of the mouth is a symptom of poison. If you think you are ready to bring another cat into your life,go ahead. But if you think you need some time before you get another one, just hold it off for a while.
Time is Healing.Hope I Helped!

I am sorry about your kitty. He probably did get hit by a car. My grandson's got hit and you couldn't tell it to look at her. The other cat is probably missing him - sometimes it helps to get another cat if you want one. No you can't replace the other one but I always got my daughter new ones to make her feel better.

I agree with u that u can never replace him but u can help by getting another cat, but that's only if ur ready for another cat. this is a question that doesn't really have a correct answer, it's all by personal preference.

I'm sorry about your cat but the best thing to do is get another cat with all your other cat features.

I feel like a jerk asking but....did he was stiff and like bloated?
Those are key signs of poisoning, either via biting or food poison.
As for the substitute, go find another one, but be carefull, your old cat can attack him or even plain ignore him until they bond.
