I am L.D.S. I have been told by many people that I am in a cult and that I need to get out. If I left the L.D.S. church, I would leave Christianity totally. Would you still say that I needed to leave?

Do what you want. It is your life. Ignore the ignorant judgments of others. They think they are the god police.

if i left the LDS church i would be the same as you,it would be hard for me to believe there was any spiritual truth on the earth.
take no notice of the "church belongs to us alone" brigade, they like nothing better than to stick the boot into anyone who dares disagree with them.
my personal view is that the LDS church is closest to the gospel and to what the church of christ is meant to be,i couldn't exactly see myself being content to return to the church of england.
if we are a cult then we're the biggest cult i ever saw in my life !,bear in mind that some over-enthusiastic opponents would refer to islam as a cult !.
these are the same people who say anyone who is an associate of an alternative religious expression are away with the demons !,thanks folks !,nice to know tolerance is still alive and well

Heck NO!

2 Nephi 25:26....

Ok, I admit it-- I'm biased. But at the same time, if leaving the LDS faith would result in you becoming non-Christian, I'd still encourage you to stay.

We both know that one's salvation is a team effort (between the individual and Jesus Christ) and a work-in-progress (not completed till one's death. I feel that leaving Christianity altogether would put a halt to all that has been done for your salvation, both by Jesus Christ and by you. Don't make His sacrifice for nothing.

What does one have to do with the other? LDS is not the only branch of Christianity. Leaving the Mormon church doesn't mean you can't be a Christian. Find a Christain based religion that speaks to you. You have to do what you feel is right in your heart. The nay sayers will only try to bring you down.

This is what the Apostle Paul said:

6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!
Galatians 1:6-8

LDS is a different Gospel.
It preaches a different Jesus:

3But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough............13For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

II Corinthians 11:3-4; 13-15

The Holy Spirit of God will only bear witness to the Truth. Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot be born again; and without being born again, you cannot enter the Kingdom of God.

"In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"

Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' "

If you are really a Christian then leaving a church wouldn't negate that- if you accept Christ as your Savior then you are a Christian- if to you leaving a church equals leaving Christianity then there isn't any point in your staying.

It all comes down to your relationship with GOD. If you want that relationship then I would suggest talking to him about it. I personally look to Jesus finished work on the cross for my salvation. I have been to a few different denominations and love every one of them. I could easily feel comfortable in a LDS ward. They would defellowship me quickly I'm afraid if they asked me about my salvation. My salvation is only in Jesus. I have nothing but the cross to offer GOD. Good thing it is enough.

May the Lord richly bless you and comfort you in your decisions.

I don't know what LDS is. IF u could alberate then I could tell u if it's a cult or not. But if u are paying hundreds to thousands of dollars for religous instuction then it's a cult for they are stealing your money like the Scientologists are.

I would tell you that you need to read the Bible, and dig into all verses pertinent to the complete sufficiency of Jesus Christ's sacrificial death.
Reason: salvation is found ONLY in Jesus Christ, NOT in any particular denom. or cultic variation.

NO.... you wouldn't leave Christianity, you just left your church LDS.... the LDS have some various beliefs that I find it hard to believe in, so that's why I don't convert as many times as those missionaries have been in my house...I still invite them in, but I always tell them I will not be converted to LDS....

Bottom line: Mormonism is a cult.

Study your organizations history, compare your so-called first "prophet" with what the Bible says about TESTING the prophets. Joe Smith was a charlatan, pure and simple.

To stay in such an organization is pure folly!
