Not to mention all the dead, bloated animal carcasses lying around....it must have smelled terrible.

Luckily for reason, its only a tale.
There was extensive flooding in the Middle East about 3000 years ago though. Many were killed.
No evidence of an Ark that carried 6 million species of animals though, shame about that.

And most of the saltwater fish in the oceans. With enough rainfall to cover the highest mountain, the salinity would have dropped to toxicly low levels for most fish.
