I don't know if I am exactly what anyone would call intelligent but I am no dummy either.

I think there is a God. Yea, that could be pure fantasy. There is no proof, nor do I desire or require proof.

I just "feel" there is a God. It makes sense to me.

Good morning by the way.

Not many intelligent people believe in pure fantasy....

Generally the intelligent folk and the fantasy folk are two entirely separate groups...

The ones you likely refer to are the fence-sitters.... semi-intelligent and thus semi-fantastical believers.

Well Kal, because if something has no evidence whatsoever, and sounds too good to be true, then chances are it is too good to be true. But if you don't believe that, I have some premium martian real estate to sell you. Only a $100 per 10 acres! Guaranteed to increase in value!

(The term guarantee does not imply an actual guarantee. Ownership subject to change without notice. All sales final.)

Why do some otherwise intelligent people believe that just because something sounds "fantastic" it can't possibly be true?

common sense and book smarts are not the same thing. You could be book smart and still believe everything you read. If you've formed beliefs before you've read evidence to the contrary these beliefs may be hard to change, or like it seems, you ignore it.

You'll think fantasy when the devil sticks his pitch fork in your behind.

And I ask non-believers the same question all the time.

How could you not believe in God or His creation?
