I bike about 2 hours early every morning and burn about 1400 calories. I have a little to eat before I go out and then I have lots of carbs (200 grams) within 2 hours after my workout to replace lost glycogen. I wonder if it's the workout that may be too hard or the amount of food that I'm digesting that makes me sleepy. Maybe it's a combination of both. Does anyone else have similar experiences?

First and foremost.... eat more food before your workouts. It sounds like you're just lacking the fuel for your muscles (which is general nutrition). Are you having a good breakfast before a workout?
Another possibility is if you eat immediately before your workout... then that could cause a problem, too. I'd suggest eating a healthy and filling breakfast a good 2-4 hours before the workout. If that's not an option, then you may want to consider a "good breakfast" before you go to bed so that your body has that fuel at some point before you start working out. I'm theorizing on that part from the limited information I have, though.

If it's not related to food, there are a lot of natural supplements that provide energy that most people don't have side effects from. There's ATP (the source of cellular energy in the body), CoQ10 (which is used to produce ATP), L-Carnitine (an amino acid that converts fat into energy), Royal Jelly, B-vitamins, GABA, NADH (boosts brain transmitters dopamine and norepinephrine so it helps to fight fatigue), Ginseng, Eleuthero Root, and Guarana.

Boy, that's a lot when I write them all out. LOL! Those are the most popular items that our customers purchase for energy, so pretty much any of those should be a good boost of energy... however, different people respond differently to different supplements, so you might not get as much energy on some of the items as someone else, and you might get more energy than other people might from some items.

You also need protein after a workout.
Also, don't have too many fast carbs (sugars). Eat some low GI, slow digesting carbs as well.

You need some protein-- amino acids provide energy. Also, try supplemental ribose and/or creatine. Some people don't like to use creatine, but ribose will help recover energy.
