Most of the killing isn't so much a result of religeon (although in most major periods of violence, religion has been used to motivate the masses.) Most of the violence we see in the Middle East is the result of the as-of-yet incomplete power struggle between the various political identities that was left in the wake of British colonialism. The British had a bad habit of putting minority groups in an area in charge of the majority and then providing the minority with the means to subjugate the majority populace. This is why Saddam Hussein, who was a member of the ethnic minority, ruled over a predominantly Shi'a nation. America also helped him maintain this rule by supplying him with weapons and equipment until his invasion of Kuwait in the 90's.
Most religions go through periods of turmoil similar to what is being seen in the Middle East. The Muslim people were living in peace and prosperity with very advanced science and culture during the Middle Ages while the Europeans were waging holy war after holy war against the pagans, the Muslims, and even their own splinter groups (such as the cathars which were exterminated by the Catholic church, and the protestants who fought against catholicism in both the 30 years war, and the 100 years war.)

You have obviously never been to Glasgow when there is a rangers and Celtic game on..........
IRA they where catholics where they not?
Bush is a "christian" is he not? And if killing hundreds of thousands of civilian men, women and children is not an act of violence then i dont know what is.
I am a Muslim and am not from the middle east neither are millions of other Muslims we are western born and raised. I am Scottish through and through and the only place i moved was south.
People are violent and people have faith the one does not cancel out the other. Their is violence in every faith, race and culture in this world. I do not despise Jews or catholics or protestants or Hindu or atheist for that matter, but hey stereotypes never get old or do they? I am pretty fed up about answering this one i can tell you.
I never killed anyone let alone a brother or sister. In fact Islam teaches to kill one person is like killing all of mankind. Maybe you should know a bit more about Islam before you go making such assumptions.
Peace to you, a white, western, Muslim woman :)

actually islam is a peaceful religion. many people misinterpret it and islam does not condone hate towards anyone despite what people say. there are many white christians who hate, murder, and torture black people(slavery, go to cultures and groups and you find alot that still hate blacks and believe that they are lower than them) and christianity is peaceful. go to the same forum and these same racists hate jews too, and they are strict christians, but that doesn't stop christianity from being peaceful, does it? what is wrong w/ muslims moving to the west? most aren't crazy and they don't go around blowing stuff up. there are many non muslims living in the middle east as well, so why are they there? and every religion is innoccent, but people are NOT. there are some bad muslims, jews, christians, buddhists, sikhs, hindus, jains, and and other people out there who feel like being crazy, bad people.
and despite what people say suicide bombings are against islam. becuase suicide is against islam, and you will go to hell for doing it and you will also go to hell for murdering innocent people and in war only men can be killed no women, children, or old people. but obviously these people forgot to read the Quran and follow the prophet, because he set these rules when islam 1st started. you can watch the message, it is in there.
you only here about muslims more than christians, becuase it is all of over the news and it fits the political agenda of the current people in office. becuase how else can you get the american people to agree w/ you abotu invading other countries, if you don't take real events and make them more than they are and blame it on religion, even though everyone has free will, and everyone, especially adults, has the power to say no. but it fits the whole war on terror plans

islam is not peaceful. If you look at the history of islam, what we are seeing today is no different than what Muhammad did at the start. He was the original islamic terrorist.
Muslims are moving here to take over. They believe in ruling the world. islam has a prophecy of allah destroying all non-Muslim countries, Muslims killing all the Jews and having a war with Christians. Muslims are working to make sure this prophecy comes true. Some will do it by peaceful means, changing laws, lying for allah and some will use force and violence. The goal is still the same...islam only.
EDIT: I wish people really knew history. Some people claim our policies today are the reasons we have problems with Muslim terrorists. I would like to remind everyone that in the 1780s we had problems with Musselmen (Muslims). American ships were being attacked by Tripoli, Morocco, Algiers and Tunis. We were no longer protected by the Royal Navy because of The American Revolution. Our crews were taken hostage and ransoms were demanded. Some people were beheaded (sound familiar?) and some were sold into slavery. We had to pay a "tax" to make sure our ships were not molested by the Muslims. In 1786, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams met with a Tripoli Ambassador, Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja to ask what right do they have to extort money from us and attack our ships. The Ambassador said the right was founded on the Laws of the Prophet Muhammad and what was written in the Koran. They had the right to wage war and kill the unbelievers. Ever wonder what the Marine Corp Hymn was talking about..."to the shores of Tripoli"? Now you know.
God Bless.

The current Muslim anger is directed only against two countries: US and Israel. In the case of Israel it does not take much to understand the reason: it has occupied a Muslim country (Palestine), expelled most of its population, has changed the demography of Jerusalem and refuses to honour a solemn treaty (Oslo) that allows Palestinians to regain sovereignty in only 23 percent of their original homeland..
The Muslim animosity to the US is closely linked to the American blind support to the zionists. The US had very cordial relationship with the Muslim and Arab World until early 1950s. Indeed in the wake of the First World War people of Syria and Palestine had expressed their preference for an American mandate if that was necessary to regain their independence. This is recorded in the report of the King-Crane Commission of Inquiry sent by the US Administration to the Middle East to find out the popular mood in the wake of the conflicting British agreements and declarations during the war.
The immense Arab and Muslim goodwill for the US stemmed from the fact that the US was raising slogans dear to these oppressed peoples and, more importantly, the US had no colonial past and hence there was no animosity towards it. All other western players, especially Britain and France, had a bitter colonial past and present and therefore were held in utter contempt and animosity. The US went back into its shell after the First World War and hence, apart from some mutually beneficial economic interests, there was no direct American contact with the Arab and Muslim peoples.
It was only after the Second World War that these peoples came into direct contact with the US. As the US was endeavouring to inherit the old colonial order at the expense of the old European players, it was mostly in conflict with British and French attempts to retain whatever control was possible in the Middle East and North Africa. The US naturally benefitted from siding with local rulers and movements which had goodwill for the US. This is how many countries in the Muslim World, from Egypt during early years of the July 1952 ‘Revolution,’ to Pakistan and Turkey etc allied with the US.
In the meantime a subtle change had started to take root in the US internal politics which soon became a permanent feature of its foreign policy: blind support for the zionist efforts to turn Palestine into a Jewish State. It all started with President Truman who took a clear pro-zionist line. In return for Jewish donations and votes, Presidential, Senate and Congress candidates started outbidding each other in supporting the zionist cause -- an established tradition now in the US elections. Thus support for the zionist cause has been turned into an internal American electoral issue. Every US candidate, presidential, congressional or Senate, has made it his solemn duty specifically not only to support the zionist cause but to outbid others in order to win Jewish votes and financial support.
Islam and terrorism:
Unfortunately Islam is being judged because of what its misguided followers do, Islam does no teach killing innocent people and suicide bombing it forbids the killing of innocent civilians, wherever and whoever they may be, in absolute terms.
Whoever kills a soul, unless for a soul, or for corruption done in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one, it is as if he had saved mankind entirely

The problem with people like you is that you are delusional, and you take a goup of one faith and associate it with everyone.
Killing:
Don't Christians ever kill? What about Hitler? He killed masses of Jews, and Muslims, and he was Christian. So there is nothing wrong with that? It seems so according to you.
Despising Jews:
No one despises Jews except a racist like yourself. In fact, Muslims disregard the fact that Jews slaughtered ALLAH's(SWT) prophet, rejected the Word of ALLAH, and would not obey ALLAH(SWT) at such command. So ALLAH(SWT) punished them.
West:
The West is the most biased place to live. People live there basically because you can get a decent life there, it is prosperous, etc. Wait, then why are you in the West or whatever?
Oh yah? Christianity was an outrage during Hitler's reign. And you don't call that an outburst? Astaghfirullah, May ALLAH(SWT) shed some Light upon you. Do not spread your Khafir opinions on everyone else.
Most of these battles are political. Not religious. Get involved in reading and opening your eyes.

all the despising i saw here in this site is from non muslims towards muslims except for the non muslim with ayatollah avatar who keeps saying silly things just to give islam a bad name.
the terrorist sites are mostly hosted by US companies because they are banned in their countries of origin in the middle east to fight terrorism.
killing each other was fueled or started by the west from bin laden to iraq or did bush send us military to iraq by accident? i think not.
the great satan isn't a thing taught in schools it's just the right of fundamentalist muslims to speak out as christian and jewish fundamentalists do against islam .
the origin of the great satan story is an iranian propaganda to getas many followers , the same government that sent people to burn the mosque in makkah , they benefited the most from attacking iraq .
isn't it a more probable thing that those who go to the west don't believe in what those freaks who legalize killing of innocents and hatred?
terrorists are not welcome in muslim communities and many are imprisoned just for being suspected of terrorism and only freed when they are found innocent .
the real terrorists get political immunity in western countries and fight moderates in their mother countries with the help of the west mainly the us and the uk.
is christianity or judaism blamed for the rise in crime in the west or in south america? there are terrorists and wars going on there and in non muslim countries in africa too.

Well if West had not interfered with the East....there would be peace there by now. Read politics. Our govt is after their oil for years. All those people wanted was to get rid of our govt and our business interest from there....but do we listen.....NO. Bush wants to make money from East and his dick friends need money too.
Even VP Dick said in a speech ." God gave oil to wrong people.' How arrogant?
Read your Christians history....its not filled with flowery stories either.
How would you feel if Saudi Arabia invades us and send their soldiers on our street. Would you like that? Put your self in their place....
There are crazy people in every religion....don't point fingers.

Its not just the Muslims, think back to the situation in N Ireland ( Catholic & Protestant). Religion in General has its Nut cases. How about the Genocide in Rwanda, The Huti & Tuti's. Those were Catholics doing the Killings that the POPE had to apoligize for.
