It depends what you mean by "bad" wine. What made it bad or was it a personal taste?

I would suggest just saying that you enjoyed the flavor but prefer ______.

Your answer depends on how well you know this person. If you know them well, of course you could tell them. If you don't know them well, you could just skirt the issue. Obviously, they like the wine or they would not serve it, so it's probably not "turned". You could just say "I've never had this before, it's _________ and fill in the blank with the first character you noticed about the wine, e.g. dry, fruity, etc. Then you could go on to the type of wine you usually drink and explain why you like it. People who serve wine often are prepared to hear from others that it's not their "cup of tea".

Don't be rude, just say this wine is ok, and suggest a few wines you like also.

Tell them that it's the type of wine that you're used to. It's different. Good Luck =]

If I knew them well enough, I'd flat out ask "Is this corked?" I took a bottle over to my family's house and my relative said "Sorry, but this isn't right, it's corked." I was a little embarrassed, but it made me look carefully at the cork of any bottle (to see if it was corked) I ever took over to them again. And they did show me the cork. It was bad.

should I tell the truth? yes. would I? no.

I would say that I like it and you think that they would like this other wine too. then bring that wine with you the next time you visit them.

Don't say you like it or that you hate it either. Part of good etiquette is not making your host feel embarrassed.

Say something about the feature like "it has a lot of bite" or "it's quite tart."

If they are a true friend, you can be honest and not hurt their feelings. So, yes, tell them.
