after I download it, it says it's not a movie file, what am I doing wrong? Please help, any advice on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you trying toplay them on the pc...for somereason that happens to me too but if you go ahead and put it on the ipod it will play....try it...
i think theres some issue with quicktime and the converted movie.

The videos you downloaded from youtube is FLV file, iPod only support MP4 file. You need to find a video converter to help you convert flv to mp4. Many such software on Internet which you can search on Google or Yahoo.

Buy the Cucusoft package. I bought this recently and it resolved every issue I was having with converting videos for use on iPod.
