like - "You see when you sin you're like wasting youre credit with God Almighty, but when you pray for forgiveness and give to the poor and commit good acts, its like putting extra savings in your personal Spiritual bank account and you can have good credit! Then you can charge and buy stuff!"

I think it belittles God, although I am not THAT offended, I just want to know what others think.

I also know that its a way for them to relate everyday things to religion, but still I don't like the emphasis on money..

I can see you are well verse with the Bible and have contribute positively to this forum. I like the way you answer to them in a very tactfully manner and in the power of words. You have a deep insight of the truth , however some do not. Some need to be preach in the worldly language. As long as it touch as according to the doctrine I think it is fine. I am sure you will agree because you said that you were not that offended.

I am your secret Fan and you have not disappointed me. You have a calling here.

2 Cor 2:17 - Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.

These people are using scriptures to get rich. Unless you have your bible out and follow what they say, listening to them is a waste of time. You are better off reading the Bible on your own. The Bible is clear that, although God has expectations to remain saved, there is no spiritual bank account, because you can't earn salvation. Do yourself a favor and stop supporting these people by not watching their programs. It truly is a waste of time.

Yes i do a lot of what i see on some of the Christian channels is nothing more than self help guides for the wealthy and a lot of ranting . Jesus said we should spread the good news to the poor in spirit and the helpless and not to worry to much about money and possessions for we should focus on the kingdom and serving others and glorifying the name of the lord.

It does give you a peek into the mindset, does it not? If a person is thinking about
your bank account, guess what: he's also thinking about your wallet. I see them on tv
telling senior citizens that if they do not have the money to send right now, thats okay: just pledge it to us and we will pray for you. Its taking advantage of those up in age who know they will meet their maker soon, and want to do whats right. If God doesn't rip the cloth off of them, I will.
They are dispicable at best.
God does not expect you to give ten percent of something you do not have.
Christ never sent out beggars, but you sure have alot of them in these big religious organizations, huh? BEGGARS, ALL OF THEM.
Their emphasis is on money, because their
minds are on your money, plain and simple.

Using commonly understood things in life is a great way to illustrate a point, BUT-
it CAN be misleading, and even add something that is not in the scripture.
Too many (especially the tv crowd) have gone way too far out of hand.
What is so terribly WRONG with staying within the Bible?

Mainstream and Mega Christianity is all about the bank. For real. Just look at the lifestyles of the "spiritually" rich and famous. =)

I know, trust me. I know first hand about this "industry". There are, thankfully, sincere leaders that don't care about "making bank", but they are few and far in between!

Agreed , when giving parables to the people in your congregation the least you could do is find a better parable then gold or silver , if you can't rap your mind around anything besides gold ,,it's definately a salvage mission ,but its you that needs saving ..because your congregation is probably more openminded then that ,,,

I agree, some aren't even believers, but God knows who the
deceivers are. Remember the verse Matt. 7:23. Depart from
me I never knew you.

i've never heard anything like that in my life. i can see how a person could relate the Kingdom in that way, but not God Himself. it doesn't offend me though. i'm an R&S regular. lol. you have to go waaaaaaaay beyond something like that before you'll offend me. besides, didn't Jesus say ''these things I tell you that you be not offended''?

I am offended by TV preachers and any and all of any religion who have made a mockery of religion and God by turning them into a business.
