Mom, Dad, and 2 kids have come to a river, and they find a boat. It is small and can only carry one adult or 2 kids at a time. Both kids are good rowers, but how can the whole family reach the other side of the river?

have the 2 kids go over one stays one goes back...mom gets in the boat and kid stays....kid gets back in the boat and goes back...both kids ride back to mom....one kid returns dad gets boat and goes to mom and other kid ....other kid gets in and goes and gets the remaining kid and they return to their parents who are on the other side!
simplified:
kid A and kid B
a and b go over
a goes back
mom goes over
b goes back
a and b go to mom
a goes and gets dad
dad goes over
b goes to a
both b and a return on the other side

well, have the 2 kids and one of the parents go over, drop off one kid and the parent, have the other kid row back, pick up the other parent and row over
lets simplify this...
kid 1-A
kid 2-B
parent 1-C
parent 2-D
A,B,and C row over. Drop Off B and C. A rows back and picks up D. Then A and D row back.

Dad puts Mom in the boat, takes her over, comes and gets kid #1, takes em over, then goes back to get kid #2.
There, the whole family is across.

The kid rows back to pick up the other kid.
They drop off one kid with mom, and the other rows to Dad
The dad rows to the island.
The kid rows back to the original side and picks up the other, the kids ride at the same time.
