Breathing kills brain cells too.

Alcohol in general is not just in drinks but also in foods, such as sugar alcohols for sweeteners in candy. Alcohols also occur naturally in fruits which is why they make such good wine. So labeling it as bad or evil or even unhealthy is wrong. People are consuming small amounts of alcohol and they don't even know it.

HOWEVER
Alcohol in copious amounts eventually makes your liver focus more on processing the alcohol than on the nutrients you are supposed to be getting. This causes your body to become dehydrated and leaches essential vitamins and minerals from your body (read hangover). It also makes your liver work harder than it needs to, thus limiting the lifespan of your liver.

It is true that a glass of wine a day might make you live longer. What they don't tell you is that the same effect is achieved with a glass of vinegar a day but no one wants to drink vinegar.

Beer, dark not light, has nutrients in the hops and when used as a meal supplement once a day, is not horribly unhealthy. But the same effect can be achieved with switching to whole wheat bread.

So it really comes down to human consumption and moderating what you eat or drink.

Treat your body like an expensive automobile, you might put a little alcohol in the gas tank for a Friday night drag race, but you wouldn't fill it up with alcohol to drive around town.

I have heard a glass of wine per day...let's say a 4ounce glass of wine is actually good for the heart.
I have not heard anything about liquer or beer though.
My Grandpy drinks a glass of wine every day with his dinner...on top of his salad,(he is Italian) and he turns 80 in December. He hasn't had any health problems except for a kidney stone some years back. He still runs his company and is extremely active within his community.
His sons on the other hand, have drank more than that per day along with drug use and both have had heart problems..before the age of 40. The one Uncle had a heart transplant this year.

There has been research about red wine saying it has health benefits... in moderation. LIke 1 a day. I'm sure there's research that says otherwise as well. Overall, there isn't much that's healthy about alcohol. Here's something interesting to read.

The longest living people on earth have had a half a bottle of wine, or 2 bears everyday since they got into their eighties, and some are in their 110s now.

An occasional dark beer is good for the heart, as is the occasional glass of red wine.

A glass a day at dinner of a red wine is good for your heart. However, only a glass a day think moderation.

Red wine is good for you but in moderation....my grandfather was ordered by his heart doctor to drink a small glass (two small shot glasses) every night to help with his heart problems, high blood sugar, and cholesterol.
hope that helps!

Consuming alcohol is always harmful in any concentration - it kills brain cells and alters your conscience (which should be avoided at all times)
