The saints in the book of Acts were persecuted because of the Name of the Lord.. calling on the name of the Lord was one of the ways that saul of tarsus identified the believers. What is it in this name that satan wants to utterly blot out? This name that is above all names under the earth..on the earth and in heaven. This name that is the sweetest name on earth... the name that we cry out when we are deepest pit and are rescued. The name that the overcomers in the Church in Philadelphia ( Revelation 3) held fast to and did not deny.
Today we are called CHRIST-ians. Those that are Of and belong to Christ. What does His name truly mean to us. Would we ever deny His name? Would we take the name of another over His. Do we say I am baptist. or wesleyian or catholic or penticostal Or do we just say we are CHRIST-ians.
Share with me.. what is this name JESUS CHRIST! to you:)

Jesus Christ to me means life, God, Lord and Savior. I claim no religion. Religion to me is "man by man's efforts trying to earn the approbation of God through good works" I am a Christian, who is a follower of Christ - - ridding myself of cosmic system thinking and replacing it with Christ-like thought through study and application of His word from the original languages on a daily basis. Becoming Grace oriented as He is and trying to follow His principles as stated in the Bible. There are many who are truly Christians, but never study His word. Without study and application there is no growth. Going to church on Sunday and ignoring Bible teaching the rest of the week will not make one a mature believer. So those who say the are Christians, may very well be, they just may be "baby" believers. Every Christian is at a different stage of spiritual growth and we have to be patient with each and every one as Christ is with us. Growth happens over a lifetime and witnessing through our behavior - - being Christ-like - - is what we are commanded to do. Learn every day. Sinless perfection is impossible, but keeping short accounts, and keep getting up when we fall down is important. Here is a good site to get daily Bible teaching for free for anyone reading this who may like that. http://www.gbible.org/

You do understand that you're saying the "name" in a language that Saul of Tarsus wouldn't understand, right?

Baring another miracle like the one on Pentecost, not even the apostles would understand the "name" of Jesus in English.

Amen to that. Pentecostals, Baptists and other true Christian religions should get together and work out their disagreements on doctrine and make us one body again of CHRIST-ians. However, the word Christian today is claimed by almost every religion under the sun, many of whom, it is sad to say, are not true Christian religions. That's why I separate myself from being labeled any particular religion (although I am partial to Pentecostalism) because I don't want to divide the body any more than it is. I am a Christian. God bless you Sandy.

We are all His and even tho' we are different denominations
we are all His body. The body of Christ and He is the most
precious of all. I know we disagree on doctrines and it can be
done, but I hate to air our discussions on YA so the non-believers can mock us as they always do. Would we deny
His name, I would hope not but because of wrong teachings and
the book The DaVinci Code, (full of lies)many have already denied
His deity. He is married to the Church, not Mary of Magadala.

It is a name I can't deny.It gives me Hope, and a promise of eternal life. It makes me die and rise up with Him .

It is a name where I could know who My Heavenly Father is. An end to hostilities with Him.

It is who I can depend on in all circumstances.

A name that completes me

Edit Freedom, Thank you.

Difficult to write the answer without using the typical scriptures like "name above all names" etc.

It is the unshakable love of my life. A love that does not depend upon my performance or ability.

A constant in times of trouble, without judgment and with mercy and grace. Tender mercies, peace in times of trouble,
a security measured in knowing God has you in the palms of His hands and takes time to wrote delightfully across the tablets of my heart. This is love without measure, and good news. All this in the name of Jesus Christ.

His is the name upon which all my hopes rely. The most profound, pure and powerful explaination of what love really is. Without Him, I can do nothing and cannot even exist...His name is everything to me...I only wish sometimes that I could know, from the time it was first uttered how it is really said...YHWH. Someday, we will know and we will call Him by His name and He will call us by ours and we will see Him face to face. That is my hope and my promise from "I am He who saves.." Love in Christ, ~J~
