Don't confuse local weather for climate; they're not the same thing. In any given year, every city should be setting an average of 4 records - but probably more, given the well-documented Urban Heat Island Effect.

But I am with you as far as too many SUVs - most people do not use the Sport or the Utility part of the vehicle. Don't use that as an excuse, however, to not look at circumstances from a reasoned level. You see SUV drivers as unreasonable - they likely see your demands as unreasonable (you essentially call them "murderers" of the Earth).

Until we all show a little bit of reason, we are going nowhere...

...just something to think about.

Be careful. You're both wrong and right.

It's a mistake to say any short term weather in one place proves (or disproves) global warming. That's just weather, which can do anything.

But scientists have proved the climate is warming (and proved it's mostly due to man). Hot weather will become more frequent. Hot weather is just not the proof.

This is proof that it's getting hotter. Worldwide, long term average:

Data is what counts. Not the "logical" arguments of the skeptics or the short term weather you observe. This is science - data rules.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Hmmm...it's HOT in summer - yep, that's global warming!

No wait, it's cooler in some parts of the country than others - yep, that's global warming!

Something happens we didn't predict? Yep, that's global warming too!

The fact that the earth cooled between 1945-1975? That was Global Warming too, I'm sure!

For a complete list of what is being blamed for Global Warming, see the link below! Every "item" on the list is documented!

People don't care about there children or there grand children . They would rather them live in a crap hole then to give up anything that's going to upset there comforts .

People are going to say its summertime its going to be hot well that is true there not lying it is going to be hot in the summer . One thing there not looking at is the winter time .I'm 51 i grew up on lake Erie when i was young the lake would freeze over i seen times when the ice would get 3 ,4 foot thick we would drive cars on it to go ice fishing . Now its lucky to get an inch of ice last year it didn't even get that .

I think people are in denial and are afraid to admit to it or there afraid they will have to change there life style and lose everything they have worked for . Not to many people thinking about the grandchildren

I think the global time line on climate has been shortened drastically by people and their habits. Not to say we could have prevented a warming. Now is the time to think about changes to transportation, housing, population levels, densities and the shifting of them,
raw material manufactoring, and infastructure considering the future water levels.

What I'd like to see on sites like this are brain storming sessions with other interested people on a varriety of subjects.

I'm not vaive to think it will happen but the hope is there.LOL. You all know that just bi*ching doesn't accomplish anything except allowing you to blow off steam.

I hate to tell you this but I'm in Oklahoma right now, and yes it is hot, but it is also about 10 degrees cooler than this time last year. When I visited home last summer you could hardly step outside without feeling your skin burn. My sister told me that a couple of weeks ago it was in the 80s. Even my dad can't remember a cooler, wetter summer.

Climate does not equal weather. Yes, it is sad that people do not care about keeping the world a nice place but you can't blame your heat wave on them and their SUVs.

Yea it's never ever been hot in the USA in August. We need to come up with some new phrase to describe hot August days. Is Dog-Day already taken? That would be a nice phrase.

Why do you think the glaciers and all the ice on the poles is melting away? Yes it is global warming. All the electricity we use makes carbon monoxide etc.
