I have 2 colums of last and first names and I need to sort them with last names first alphabetically but still keeping the first names next to the last. How please?

Highlight both columns, click on data...sort, then select which of the columns to sort by, and how...ascending or descending.

Select both columns (say A is "first name" and B is "last name"
2- select "Data" "Sort"
3- select column b, ascending
4-say "ok"

excel will keep column A with column B

Go to Data, then Sort. Sort by whichever column, and expand the selection when it asks. That will keep all of the info together.

Select the data you want sorted, either by highlighting it, or by clicking the column. Then in the upper toolbar, click Data ------> Sort.

From the Excel menu bar choose Data, Sort
Highlight the desired area you want to sort.
Select ascending.
Go
