We pronounce the S immediately after the TH with no seperation. I have never heard anyone pronounce months or births as two syllables and I have travelled extensively and know native speakers from all over the planet. So the person who said that it is two syllables probably does not know what a syllable is.
I realize that the hard TH (birth, think, throw) is very difficult for many people who are not native English speakers. Once you learn to produce the TH sound at the end of the word just slide your tongue up over your teeth the the position for the S sound.
Hope I helped.

U are gettin mixed answers and it's cuz people speak differently in different places.
U will just have to listen to some English-speaking people when they say these words to get a true idea of the pronunciation.
And even then u will get differences cuz some people are more precise in their speech than others.
Listen to announcers talking on the telly (like newscasters, weathermen and such) as they usually have more proper speaking habits than a lot of people.

When you pronounce a "th" your tongue is between your teeth. To add the "s", you remove your tongue. So, to answer your question, yes, the sounds are separate. The "th" is very quick, but it moves fluidly to the "s".

The 'th' and 's' get slightly slurred together but they are separate sounds.

the "th" blurs into the "s," so each word consists of a single syllable.
