Pan sear it, (Get a saute pan, really hot and put the steak in the pan, until a nice golden brown on one side, turn it over and complete on the other side. Then finish in a 300 degree oven until desired doneness acheived).;
Also in a broiler.

Buy a great steak first.
usda choice or greater. Safeway meat sucks. It is usda select or good. It is lower grade than restaurants use and only one grade higher than Micky Dees.
New york or ribeye is flavorful. Tenderloin is expensive and less flavorful. Top sirloin is a good value and is tender and flavorful.
The word Chateaubriand at Safeway or other supermarkets are a joke. The "true" definition is center cut of tenderloin, grocery stores decided to redefine it as round steak which is fairly tuff on the scale of steaks
Tri-tip is "sirloin" and really has good flavor but is getting more and more expensive.
MARINADE for tri-tip
Worcestershire sauce, fresh chopped garlic, black pepper or Steak seasoning, chopped onion. Marinade two hours and roast in 350 degree oven 25 minutes for medium rare.
rest meat for 10-15 minutes then slice against the grain
good luck

In the broiler of your oven.
Season the steak with a little fresh garlic and Montreal steak seasoning. Put it into your preheated broiler - set to broil of course, lol). Cook until the side facing heat is almost to whatever temp you want - I like med-rare, so it only takes about 6-7 minutes for a 1" thick steak. Flip it over and let finish to desired temp. About 140 F is rare, 165 F is well & you will have to play with the temps to get in between as you rarely get preople to agree on what is med-rare to med-well.
To put on top of it, make some beef stock (a little strong - either by adding more mix or reducing it on the stove), add some butter and if you can get it, a splash of truffle oil. Cook until it is just starting to boil and it is done.

Marinade it, then put it on a griddle. The kind you would make pancakes with.
We use Montreal marinade. It is a packet you can buy at the grocery store. You mix it with vinager and let the meat sit for a while.
We use a thinner cut of steak, like a tri tip cut. The marinade soaks through, and the flavor is incredible.

You just need to grill it on your burner, on high heat. You need the fan on though, because there will be lots of smoke. Rub the meat, with a pepper concoction: 1/4 pepper, 1/5 your favorite herb, 1/8 salt, and some fresh thyme for taste; then grill it, until the insides get hot. For the marinara sauce, just use Hunt's Barbeque sauce, you can marinade it instantly, or put it on after grilling; (your choice).

George Foreman grill!!!!!! For a few minutes Gets both sides at the same time and does not dry it out. They are not very expensive either You will probably pay more for the steaks.

First invest in a iron skillet.
The ones that have the "ribbed" bottom like a grill.
Turn on your vent fan and start cooking...........
