Get yourself some 10 or 15 lb dumbells and hold them up close to your shoulders....feet shoulder length apart, and squat like you're sitting down. Stand up, and squat again. Do 3 sets of 10, every other day. You should start seeing results in 3 or 4 weeks, and then you can increase your weight to 20 lbs. Eat lots of protein, drink lots of water, and stay away from sugar and greasy foods.

One of the unfortunate things about weight loss is that you can never direct where you lose the fat from. You can do hundreds of crunches and never lose an inch from your waist line, and for some reason all the fat burns off your hindquarters. It's so frustrating!

So, no, there's not really an exercise that can specifically target your thighs. But getting on a regular diet and exercise plan can definitely help your weight after all (taking away from your thighs hopefully!). Other than that, try building muscle in that area as the muscle growth might help eat up the fat- your thighs may stay the same size, but they'll be much more fit looking and not so embarrassing.

Try running/jogging, as that is by far the best exercise for getting in shape, or swimming's another good option. Or, if you're looking for something to do while maybe watching TV or surfing the internet, try this;

Sit down on the ground next to a chair/couch that's not gonna slip out from behind you. Place your hands on the seat behind you, and then lift yourself up (like you were going to sit on the chair) but with your legs, not your arms! Carefully lower yourself down, and repeat.

Hope that helps and good luck!

I vote for stairs... I don't have any stairs in FL, but since I've been here (snowbirding) in NJ.. full finished basement that's a LOT cooler, and a dog that wants to go out a lot... Up and down the stairs has made my thighs feel like boards!!!

I prolly do 22 round trips a day, minimum, and I know that it helps. Only one flight of 12 steps, but it works!! 2 months down, one month to go, I know I'll get flabby in 6 months.

walking and jogging are the easiest ways to lose weight, but if you're heaviest around your thigh area then it will be the last place to budge. Squats, lunges and leg-lifts tone your thighs but make sure you only use your body weight as resistance as your legs may bulk-up if you using weights. If your increasing your cardio make sure you increase your weight resistance for your upper body as this is where you will lose weight first. Slightly bulking up your upper half will help balance out your lower half.

family doctor's experience

tradmill uses a lot of muscles that you didn't thaink about - legs, cafes, stomach (it sweats even after 10 min), gluteus maximus, your back also sweats too. So, doing 20 minutes of running on a treadmill or outside will help your "thighs" out

Running will get them smaller and squats will get them toned, I know every trainer that I've ever had swore by squats. But if it's girth that's more your problem, than cardio is going to be your initial step. Bike riding is good for legs too.

walking is the best way to lose weight....there is no way to specifically target one area successfully. Walking is good for an overall loss.

and by they way.....don't be embarrassed. You only live once, don't go through life trying to hide...it's not worth it. be proud of who you are...confidence is a turn on!
