Whenever I receive an attachment that is an Adobe Acrobat file, if I click on it to open it, it will automatically open in Microsoft Publisher. This is of course unreadable. I Have to save the file and then right click on the saved file to open it with Adobe. It will not allow me to do this from the attached file in email. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Right click on the adobe file you want to open and select the open with....choice. It should give you the option of programs to choose from. Select adobe from the list or if not there, browse for it. You should get the option of selecting "always open this type of file with this program. Do so. Now when you open any adobe file it should automatically open in adobe.

Do you have all PDF files associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader?

Open My Computer and then click Tools>Folder Options, now click the "File Type" tab. Scroll down to PDF and select it by single clicking on it. Now click "Change". In the "Open With" box choose the program that you what to open the file. If the program "Adobe Acrobat" is not listed, then you will need to "Browse" and navigate to the Adobe Acrobat Reader .exe file and select it. The normal path would be My Computer>"C">Program files>Adobe>Acrobat>Reader. Now scroll down and find AcroRd32.exe, and select it.

That should associate all PDF files with the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

That has to do with File Associations on your computer. YOu can fix this by:
Right-Click on your START menu, choose EXPLORE. A directory window will pop up. Go to the TOOLS-->FOLDER OPTIONS-->FILE TYPES

Now find the Extension that you are having a problem with: Example: PDF (adobe file). You will notice within that window the "Details for PDF extension. Here is where you can change the Association to that file extension to the program you wish to open any PDF file. In this case, you would choose Adobe Reader.

Do you have a PDF reader? It doesn't have to be Adobe. Without that, the pdf files have no place to go but Publisher, which of course, can't open them. I suggest you try Foxit Reader, a small, very fast and efficient PDF reader. It isn't as slow and cumbersom as Adobe, and takes up one-tenth of the hard drive space. It will open files in email, online, and anywhere else. I've used it for years in place of Adobe reader.

If it works, you might consider uninstalling Adobe reader, and freeing up a lot of memory and disk space!
