To fear the Lord to me is to ultimately know that he's watching over you all the time, so that should keep you in "check" with yourself. God is there... he sees you and so ya better chose wisely in your decisions because you will be punished accordingly =volitional responsibility

To "fear" the Lord is to realize the He and He alone created the universe, and that if He chose to destroy it He could. No one could stop Him and He wouldn't face any consequences for doing so.
Yet, it is because of His great compassion that He blesses us instead. We do not have to worry that He'll suddenly decide that He's tired of us and so He'll remove ALL of the air in the world, but we can live in the comfort of knowing that in spite the fact that we have done nothing to deserve His blessings, He grants us so much to enjoy.

i don't care about your 'trials'. everyone life has positive and negative aspects with a severe swing in either direction. god hasn't shown me anything that would make me even like him let alone fear him. if he has a problem with that then he can come over and we'll have a little talk...

I don't fear the lord, because it would be rather silly to fear mythical beings, but many of their followers are definitely scary.

I know that the "fear" in your bible is a mistranslation of the original Hebrew. It would be closer to say "hold in reverence"

I do not fear Jesus. I do not fear those who claim to follow him, I just know to be vigilant for their lies and persecutions of others.
