I went to a BBQ last weekend and got attacked by mosquitos.

I have never been biten like this in my life before! I've never had this type of reaction. The bites are red and raised, they look like welts. I must have at least 30 of them.

Right now I am using max. strength cortizone cream. But I still find myself scratching. I've also tried using ice on the bites. It relieves the itch for a little while.

Do you have any recommendations or home remedies to try?
I want these things to go away. I scar easily and I'm hoping I'm not permanently marked all over.

Thank you.

wash really good use acholol (rubbing_ dab it over the spots and then after it dries use aloe vera stuff and put it on often and don't scratch. or you can get spray which stops itching at the pharmacy (red can)small it will help also. what you are doing can help also. its just sounds infected.

KM has the right idea with the alcohol. Our family uses (from the kitchen) a splash of Corn Starch. It seals the pores and soaks up any new itchy fluid. Gold Bond Medicated Powder should work. The CS is only a dollar for a pound box in the grocery store. I used it on a hole where a mole was removed; it began to heal immediately. CS is a prime part of Gravy for dinner. Try an ice cube. Folks use it for pimples.

Clear underarm deodorant, with no fragrance. Really, it works. Sorry it happened to you. It also could be chiggers bites. Did you sit on a wooden park bench? Same treatment. Also, sometimes clear nail polish, if chiggers. Try it on a couple before using all over.

Mentholatum will stop the itch, reduce the swelling and keep you from scratching and scarring. Rub on areas as soon as you can. Best defense are sprays containing DEET.

If you make a cross on the bit the sting should go away. Use the cream as much as you can. If they still itch after 7 days go to see your doctor.
