I'd get the XD45 simply because it's got a higher magazine capacity, and I like the safety. Besides, I already have a couple Glocks.

Do I understand your question right? A free XD or pay for a Glock? I'd take the freebie, of course. If I had to pay for either gun though, I'd take the Glock. There's nothing wrong with the Springfield, I'm just a Glock man having carried a Glock Model 20 .10mm for going on twelve years now. I also own a Glock 31 in .357 Sig and a Model 26 Glock in .9mm.
If I were to buy yet another Glock it would either be another Model 20, or a Model 32 (compact .357 Sig) or possible a Model 19 (compact .9mm). I like Glocks. They are user friendly, dependable, durable, accurate, high capacity and available in more diverse calibers than other semi-automatics.

If it were a 9mm, I would get the Glock. I own a 9mm Glock already and extremely pleased with it, and wouldn't mind a different version of it. Probably would get the Glock 26, but would also consider the 17.
If it were a .40 S&W, I really don't know. Probably would lean towards the Glock since the 9mms are the same size and I have experience with a Glock 9mm. I would want the Glock 23.
And finally, when comes to the .45 ACP, hands down the XD. In fact I just got one. I liked the grip when compared to the Glock .45ACP grip, I felt I had a more secure hold on the pistol. So I bought the XD 45 Service model.

Both are fine weapons. I prefer the XD, and I've not had a problem with accuracy over 25 yards. I own the XD 45, and love it. I also have a glock in the safe but it's not mine. I like both guns, you'd come out ahead either way.

Ok who's the Glock owner giving all the thumbs down? XD stepping on your territory? Anyway in response to the comment below, you can convert the xd 40 into a .357 sig, a 9mm and then you have three guns also.

I'd take a Glock model 20, and since I already have one I would put the new on in my gun safe with the 2 extra Glocks I keep there now. No XDs in my safe. There is no substitue for a 10mm Glock...

I go with GLOCK for it's corrosion resistance. XDs have improved by coating the barrel and slide, but GLOCKs are still the industry leader in that area. They coat every metal part in Tennifer. I live in a VERY humid area, so I have always had problems with rust/corrosion. I have NEVER had any part of a GLOCK show rust. The Tennifer coating on them are the reason for that. It also makes the metal nearly diamond hard. Also, GLOCKS have been around for 20+ years, so there has been many more tests conducted on them. I suggest you rent and shoot both to see for yourself. You may find the XD much more to your liking. Either way, happy shooting to you.

I have both a Glock 22 in .40 S&W and an XD in .40 S&W. I carry my XD everywhere, as I trust it more. I like the Glock, its a good gun, but I think Springfield's stuff is a bit nicer.

I would get a Glock, I have model 17 and 19, I've had them for several years already and I've shot thousands of rounds.
Like bghoundawg said, spend the extra money to get a Sig. I've bought a Sig Sauer P226 2 weeks ago and it's now my favorite handgun, even though I've had my G17 for years.
Well if I can get it free of charge and no restrictions, I'd definitely get a Glock 18. I know it's sounds strange, but I already have a Glock 17, interchangeable magazines, and massive firepower.
If I were to get a .45, I would rather get the XD.

Get a 40 Cal. Glock, because you can convert it to a 9mm or a 357sig simply by changing the barrels and magazines. Then you will have 3 calibers in one pistol,
