Yes you sure can but you should buy this special additive to ensure that the paint holds. I have used both and acrylic tends to wash out easier but use the additive with it.

Hi from France ♫ It is not a good idea to iron acrylic paint ! Your iron will be very dirty / have stains after that and that will not secure the paint in place at all..For paint on your shirts, you need to use a ' special ' paint especially made for paint on clothes.. Have a nice day Cat.

yes, you can. The problem is that acrylic paint will stiffen on top of the fabric and will chip and crack with wear. You can buy a fabric paint additive at crafts stores which you add (one part to one part) to any acrylic or latex paint to turn it into serviceable fabric paint. Good luck.
(I used to be an interior painter and had a thousand cans of interior latex paint which I painted on clothing and other fabrics for years with the addtion of the fabric paint additive)

I paint lots of fabric. You need to wash the fabric with out using any fabric softener and do not use a dryer sheet when drying. Do not use spray starch or magic sizing when you iron before painting. Now at most craft stores they carry an item called fabric medium. you mix it with acrylic paint as you paint. allow it to dry over night and then follow the directions on the bottle. Some require heat setting with an iron. Follow these directions. I wash my items inside out and hang dry. Yes! Use bright colors though...I've had many a paint sploches on a pair of good jeans/shirt and regretted not weraring old clothes! It is not as good as true fabric paint though so you might have to layer the coats. Good luck.

Yep. The only problem is when you wash it, the paint will fade a bit and you'll have to touch up the paint if you want to wear it again (unless you dont mind it faded).
