Language serves to society, all the strata, and the more structured this society is, the more diversified the language application will become...In that sense "politically correct" trend will aim at generalizing and averaging the meaning, benchmarking it a vague golden middle of emotional perception. Used just as a "masses" management, just a tool, term can be compared to "politesse" in French, in essence.

"Politic" means having practical wisdom.

"Politically correct" means holding orthodox liberal political views; usually used disparagingly to connote dogmatism

(both of the above are from Websters)

People use these PC words because they think that they are less controversial and confrontational than other words. So more in line with society's need for people not to exclude or attack fringe groups.

It is a fact of life that the meaninghs of words change, and I think we just have to accept that the term "politcally correct" is now simply synonymous with "factually incorrect"....

I am of the opinion that revolutions/reforms are often subtly, if not utterly, associated with politics.
