The Military is not gonna take into consideration that you have children for deployment purposes.
Thats why they make you have a family care plan in writing and approved by your commander.
Since your talking about two branch's, they are gonna have a hard time, making sure your both stationed at the same place as it is.
You might wanna see if there is a Coast Guard Staion near the Naval base your husband is at, then go see what kind of Ratings they use there.
Your Husbands deployments will be handled by the navy, yours by the Coast Guard, since both are sea going services.
You can count on both of you being at sea at the same time.
So unless you have someone to care for your children, you need to think twice.
If your husbands ship is deployed, the Coast Guard will not take that into consideration if a deployment comes up for you.
There are plenty of husband/wifes who were both deployed to iraq at the same time, or one to iraq, one to afghanistan.
And yes the Coast Guard does deploy to Iraq.

you will each deploy when your ship/squadron does. won't matter if you spend years missing each other because you deploy three days before he comes home, and he deploys the day you come home.
Spousal Co Location could also be an issue since you are not the same service, and there are plenty of CG bases nowhere near Navy bases.
and for the record:
the Coast Guard DOES deploy to the Gulf, in fact they have had two Sailors killed in OIF/OEF. they will also deploy on US Naval Vessels on Caribbean and Med Cruises, as they are the ones with the Law enforcement authority to board smugglers. All of my Navy husband's ship deployments have had a CG crew on board. and he has been to quite a few places.
If/when there are children, it will have no impact if you are both deployed at the same time.. you must have a family Care plan in effect at all times.

I am not sure about you two being in two different branches. I would guess that the Navy and Coast Guard will send you two where they need you, not necessarily together.
If you were both in the navy they would not station both on the same ship. They quit doing that during WW2 after the 5 Sullivan brothers were killed in action all stationed on the same ship.

He goes overseas and you get to stay at your duty station here in the States. The Coast Guard is exactly that, it guards the coast. There are no overseas deployments. What, you thought they'd send you with him just because you want to be in the Coast Guard?

The Coast Gaurd does not deploy. However, you would get into problems if your husband is stationed overseas, as the Coast Gaurd has no duty stations outside of the US (the exceptions being in certain career fields or in US Territories). He would have to go and you would more than likely have to stay to complete the terms of your enlistment.

Coast guard doesn't get deployed as far as I hear, but don't quote me, you may defend the mexico boarders or be called up in a disaster, but you will stay here as far as I know. Your husband will go there, as usual. you would be reserves and he active military. You would be considered dual military, which means your both in the military, even tho one is in the reserves and one is active duty. Both of yu would still have a family care plan, which states in what would happen to the kids.

Even "IF" a couple joins the same branch of Service, there are no guarantees as far as deployments (Although the Air Force does a better job than the others)

The navy doesnt care. They may try to keep you to together but they dont try very hard. Mu husband is in the navy and we have many dual military friends that are married and they always say they dont care. you are lucky if your ships are in port at the same time and they will never but two married couples on the same ship they told me

Simple really. He will be deployed where the navy choses. You will be deployed where the coast guard choses.

You will both be deployed by your branches. The only thing that may make a difference is, if you have children. It also depends on your rates. Your rate (what ever it may be) might not see very much sea time.
