"The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of Buttered Toast." (Gen. 19:14-17, 23-26)

Think some scientists put to gether the info and worked out that Sodom and Gamoura were simply mining towns ...

Bit like American gold rush towns...

money, crime, local mafia, hookers, drugs ...

The usual in fronter mining towns only this was aspalt for the romans.

On top on nasty side chrisitins hate people having fun and some were gay... big deal.

Only it appears to be cheap the cites were built on crumbly rock which was very weak so if shaken it turned to bubbling power which when shaken acts like a liquid. The area is full of methane pockets so a metero shower smashing up the ground would easily smash and powder it up, the gas would rise and catch fire and with any sort of earthquake, perhaps triggered by meteors... the ground would be all powder so lots wife may have been burid in a natural disater

How stupid can people get, Lot's wife was already out of Sodom when see turned around to look, She was instructed not to look back, in other words, If your heart is still back there then you too will die, Lot's wife stood right next to Lot & Lot was not even touched, Only Sodom & Gommorrah was destroyed & Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt, It amazes me how stupid some people can get, & yet they want the world to know or think they know something, sorry friend, my little grandson knows better then you do & he is only 10 yrs. old.

It is a midrashic story and should not be understood literally. The story was used by Jewish Old Testament writers to explain the presence of salt in the area where it happened.

Your question tells me that you are either an agnostic or an atheist. Well-known scientists have discovered God. You only have to examine the hard evidence with an open mind and you too will also find God. Go to the links below to discover the truth of God.

Albert Einstein wrote in his book "The World As I See It" that the harmony of natural law "Reveals an intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, all the systematic thinking and acting of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection."
He went on to write, "Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe--a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble."
A very significant statement indeed, wouldn’t you say?

God wants to show how much he loves and cares for you. St. Augustine said, “our hearts are restless until they rest in thee.” I, too, found God the hard way like St. Augustine. Seek him. He wants to embrace you.

Peace and every blessing!
