reason why.. if u lay on the warmth of the sun put u relax and it gets u to fall a sleep its the same for them they get relax and most of them fall a sleep

Probably the same reason I like to lay in the sun. It's warm! My dog does this also, we have a little beagle and she lays in by the sliding glass door in the sun.

believe it or not, not all dogs do lay in the sun...my two golden retrievers hate laying in the sun as they get to hot!
Although other breeds may enjoy it because it is warm and just help them to relax a bit better afterall, there is nothing worse than a rainy, cold day.

My dog doesn't. Then again, he has a lot of fur and I suppose more heat isn't too pleasant for him. Other dogs with less fur may like the warmth of the sun.

they enjoy it as much as we do, plus it may well give them the same feeling of wellbeing as it does for us,i know us humans benefit from a little sunshine(vitamins etc), so dogs must too
i know this sounds silly but dab a small amount of sun screen on their nose just where it starts to go to fur, dogs can get sun burn as well as we do, and lots of cold yummy water
