Perhaps if all muslims practiced what they preached, we wouldn't have to. I am by no means saying that all muslims are terrorists, but the fact is that some are. In high school we studied Islam in my Human Geography class. The religion itself is facinating, and I agree with a lot of their beliefs, some even more so than I do with my own religion. As a Christian, I know that my religion has also done some terrible things [ie religious wars], so I can completely understand the fact that people make mistakes, and that doesn't make their whole religion bad. People just have a knack for taking what few do and blaming the whole.

i think the fact that they fear another attack from bin laden is the reason behind the anger and hatred towards muslims and islam. they cannot accept the fact that the west built up bin laden or many terrorist organizations in the middle east.
not all americans are like that , but many are, and most inportantly the media which all it aims for is getting the most they can is the source of much of it , and you can thank president bush, obama and the sorry excuse for a politician the colorado congressman who wants to attack the holiest muslim mosques for the rest.
many muslims blame bin laden and terrorists for the way muslims are mistreated and bullied in the west and for the western attacks on iraq , and the american and european conventions that call for destroying gulf countries which would help build a persian empire ( which wasn't discussed as a consequence , just the need to destroy more countries).
i think if the west stops meddling in the affairs of the middle east and clean up the messes they made including the arming and training of bin laden then their won't be more terrorism .
so no the only way america will stay perfect in the eyes of many americans is to blame those muslims and islam for every thing from global warming to terrorism.

Unfortunaltey, yes. I am american and I would safley say that no matter how much Americans are educated about Islam the majority will always default to the Sept. 11th attacks for their view of the Islam religion. I would say that though all religions have extreme factions in them Americans believe that the Islam religion has a disproportionate percentage compared to other religions. I, again am an American but I am well educated and have an open mind. I respect all religions and have no affiliation with any. I believe that people should be able to believe what they want, as long as they do not push there beliefs onto me.

No. The middle Eastern male has been shown as an evil, scheming (devilish) and dishonest character since American media began. Every cartoon, film, book etc has only shown the Middle Eastern male as some kind of evil caliph, geni, or magician or hand-rubbing bad-guy with a pointy beard and red devil eyes
The only time they were ever shown in a less 'evil' light would be as a kind of comic, witless, sycophantic character, like a servant.
The taliban and certain extremists have given the far right in America all the fuel they need to ensure that the Muslim male is demonized well into the next millenium.

I am Catholic and even I know that if you research Islam it is essentially a peaceful religion. There are stupid people (extremists) in nearly all religions and it is sad to say that these stupid people who I would call the Islamic terrorists are spoiling it for the rest of the peaceful Muslims around the world.
The fact is though that because of the constant media reports on "Muslim terrorists," which actually border on negative propaganda, most people will just believe what they are told about a minority and apply it to a majority.
It's like me saying, "Well all white guys must be good at basketball because Larry Bird was." Not true. Sadly though, I have realised that most Americans are very easily brainwashed and not many know anything about what is happening in the world outside their own borders.

Others would have a different view of Islam, if Muslims would clean up their own mess. In Muslim countries, terrorists are being protected by the general population. That doesn't happen in Western countries.
When the Iraqi police, with the help of the citizens, hunt down and jail those who they already know to be terrorists, the world view of Islam might begin to change.
Right here in America, and in England, there are many Muslims. When they talk among themselves, and talk of terrorism comes up, how often do the good Muslims alert the police to watch certain ones who might be the trouble makers ? Good brothers reporting bad brothers.
When Muslims clean up their own house they can expect respect.

I say no.
There is a frank difference between the tenets of Islam and radical Muslim extremists such as those pervasive in Al Qaeda and The Taliban.

Everybody knows what Islam stands for. Like all the other bodily religions it seeks to achieve peace among humanity.
There is no basis for one to link terrorism with Islamic religion because few bad eggs have given it a bad name.

The problem with Americans, and the rest of the world is, that they want a one government, one religion and everything else is "bad" "terror"... etc...
Please inform yourself about Islam before your quick judgments.
