put your cat and her litter box in one room and dont let her out till your friend leaves -since cats naturally rub up on visitors and vaccume the furniture and spray with germ killing spray probably lysol- and tell your friend to take benadryl before she comes over!!! thats the best you can do she will probably still sneeze if shes highly allergic!

Open a couple of windows a little, just to get some ventilation going. Make sure you seal up everything belonging to your cat in big plastic garbage bags. That way, no cat dander can escape. No matter how much you vacuum, unless you do all of the surfaces everywhere in your home and do it multiple times, they will still have an allergic reaction. There might still be a reaction. The best thing to do is tell your friend you HAD a cat but it isn't at home. That way the friend can bring the medication necessary to deal with it. Wouldn't you be embarrassed if your friend got sick anyway and you had told him/her you didn't have a cat?

Don't hide your kitty! That is her home, too!
Seriously, how allergic is your friend? I have a niece that is so allergic that if I have been holding one of my cats, there is enough dander/hair on my clothes to cause a reaction with her.
Is it possible for you and your friend to meet somewhere else? That would take the worry off you to clean every nook and cranny of your home and prevents your friend from having an allergic reaction.
Good luck and have a nice visit!

You should tell your friend that you have a cat. After all, your pet is part of your family. If your friend has a serious allergy, suggest that you meet somewhere else.

Your friend should take a Benedryl prior to her visit. You should also open a couple of windows and get some cross ventilation in your home.

That's about all, but you will still have cat dander everywhere. Warn your friend to take her allergy medication before she comes over.
